I often refer to my knife storage box(es) as my "footlocker". In reality I have 3 of them. I have a Sears Craftsman tool box which is kind of tote box model that can be rolled on wheels kind of like luggage that you see at the airports. It has a Sears stock #59027. It is called the "Sit, Stand, Tote Truck". It has a very sturdy handle on top. It has a tight, virtually waterproof seal on the top section.
It has 2 sectional tool trays that are stacked on top of each other and it has a big space on the bottom for fixed blades and sharpening equipment. Although I now have all my sharpening equipment in 2 separate tool boxes. I have since added 2 more of the Sears #59027 units. I have one for all my Surefire flashlight stuff. And I have another one for all my non-Spyderco blades. The unit measures 23 inches wide by 18.5 inches tall by 13 inches deep.
These footlocker type toolboxes on wheels have been the best thing I've come across in the past 3 years. If I find anything better I'll switch over. This has been a very informative thread. There are a lot of great storage boxes, safes, vaults and other type storage containers posted by all of you here to consider. But the next time you're in a Sears store give these a close look and I think you'll like them. JD
