What do you think about Case brown delrin knives

I like brown delrin. I have only one Case knife, a Texas Jack in CV, and that is what it wears. I have a buch of OT's in that sawcut brown delrin too.

There's something about CV and delrin that gives a no-nonsense, humble, hard-working spirit to it.

I don't see it as trying to imitate bone, I just think jigging/sawcut is nice and is just as good on delrin as it is on bone.

Also in my experience with the as ground ss the points on the clip blades are not rounded off & the nail nicks even on the little pen
blades have nice square shoulders, When Case tumble polishes the blades both of these desirable features are removed.

Exactly

I've always liked the jigged brown delrin.
Very nice collection there.

The only Case brown jigged Delrin knife I have is a peanut I won in a Cory Hess GAW, and I like it just fine.:thumbsup::)
Here's a photo (tip of the main blade is NOT broken off, I'm just not skilled enough to include it ):

Did you do the whittling with the peanut?

But I quite agree with waynorth waynorth about the jigging. It does make grip easier. That said, I’ve never had a problem with the smooth black delrin on this model. It was my first intro to the as ground blades too. The simple oval shield is also one I’ve always liked. A gift from a very understanding mother.:D
Thanks, Neal

I forgot about that one being black. It's the same as my brown stockman minus the spay blade if I remember correctly.

TrapperMike-yah, probably. It’s the ‘87 serpentine pattern, 2 blade, 3 3/8” long, if that’s of any help.
Thanks, Neal

I think brown delrin is ugly. But then again I don't like any synthetics on slipjoints.

Well I like it:) Think it goes well on this Slimline Trapper a useful food knife that kind of reminds me or the French Laguiole.

So slim and great jigging.

Like many here I really like the as ground blades. Recently purchased a Mini Copperlock to go along with a black synthetic medium jack with as ground blades.

I like the color on that one. Nice.

I have a few and they are better looking in person... make good work knives...and the as-ground blades are easier to pinch open and as work knives, make more sense than a polished/finished blade

Are they pretending to be something they aren't?
When I see jigging, I assume it's bone, unless it's not. Jigged delrin to me seems like imitation bone. I am curious though if it's actually jigged and unique on each knife or it's molded and they're all the same. Either way, my impression is that making something that looks like jigged bone, but they're cutting costs and giving you something cheaper. Uncle Henry and similar knives have Staglion (a Schrade trademark, but genericized), plastic imitating stag antler. I think this is the worst. It's ugly and it's not fooling anyone.

Again, this is just my opinion. It's also a bit contradictory because I find amber carved bone stag (like Queen, Moki, and a lot of custom makers do) to be extremely sexy. Just look at this Moki.

Personally delrin on a traditional is a huge no-go because it's just not classy enough(imo)
I'm not the biggest fan of non-natural handle materials in general, the only material thats not natural that i would consider having on my knives is micarta.
To me micarta is right on the edge of traditional and modern.
So if it was for me i would say that every traditional knife should have a natural handle material (Think of:Bone, wood, stone, stag, etc)

I like the look of the jigged delrin, at first when I go at a slim line trapper I thought it was real bone, then I realized it was synthetic, I was disappointed. But now I like how it feels and gives a little texture, and I do not have to worry about it when used, it will hold up to some use. It is a working blade and I like the finish on the as is ground blades too.
