What do you think about Case brown delrin knives

Good eye! I’ve had a few 087 black stockman over the years that come and go but somehow that little jack seems to have staying power.

As I look through my Case Knives with Delrin handles it seems that most of the older Delrin handled knives (1970's) were still made from polished CV steel. I also prefer the stainless to be as ground - stainless steel is bought for function and "as ground" seems more functional to me. Here are a few of mine; the top three are from the 1970's and came with polished blades, the Peanut is from 1990 and has "as ground" blades, so the change must have come in the mid to late 1980's. OH

I have no problems whatsoever with Delrin covers. Delrin is probably the most successful cover material in slipjoint history. I'd even bet that more knives have been produced with Delrin covers than all other materials combined. With that said, I do prefer Micarta when it comes to synthetic handle materials. Delrin gets to looking pretty bad when a knife is heavily used/abused, and can't be refinished easily like Micarta.

Some Delrin covers are far better than others though. The Case look isn't bad. Nothing truly inspired, but since they've used a number of vendors over the years, to produced their knives, the Case look is easy to replicate for the sake of brand identity.

Here's my only Case jigged brown Delrin, done by Camillus.

But Camillus produced much nicer jigged Delrin, IMHO. Some of their stag bone is simply marvelous.

I do LOVE Case's smooth yellow Delrin. Yellow Delrin is classic in a way that no other Delrin seems to be able to achieve. And Case gets the coloring just right.

I have two Carhartt/Case knives, the large stockman has brown g-10 covers, and the wharncliffe mini-trapper has a weird beige/burnt delrin cover. Both are also part of the "working line". I much prefer the brushed finish on the bolsters and blades as I'm not too fussy on the mirror polish on my regular Case mini-trapper.

I'm also a fan of the Case/Carhartt G-10 and "as ground" finish. Good tough stuff.

I really like the jigging on the older ones. The newer ones do a little run in the middle of the handles instead of a full run.

I agree delrin has been very successful. I am also very fond of that smooth yellow.

I like g 10. Smooth g10 looks really sharp also.
 
I am a Case guy - never got on with Delrin though. I eliminate any delrin or other plastic Case knives from my searching - I have to have bone.
