Functional beauty does me in. When a tool is so perfectly reduced to its leanest where nothing is in excess. No extraneous doodads or embellishments that interfere with the tool's ability to do its job. Refined efficiency just taps into something in the brain stem that nothing else can.
I have to completely agree with you. I believe that's why Bob loveless knives were so popular because they were so simple yet beautiful
