What do you think of this? (Updated 12/9/10)

According to the UPS tracking site, my box should be here tomorrow. Really excited.

neat. how much to CNC? :) cast magnesium maybe? mmm.

though, as well, you might consider making your box ALSO be the sheath too. saves on assembly, etc mmm.

oh, include a method for attaching a hex wrench of the right size in there?

No CNC Needed

I will be getting a conventional mill towards the end of january if you need any help just let me know.

My damn lathe shit the bed on me yesterday, one of the gears broke, so looks like thats out until january also :grumpy:

You want some technical drawings get CAD/CAM that will blow your mind...

Unfortunately it appears my package ended up traveling through Louisville, which for me at least means no matter what it will end up being later than originally expected by at least a day. I hate it when my UPS stuff goes through there. Always adds another day travel time at minimum. Stupid Louisville. Oh well. (Would be a wonderful surprise if I was wrong and got it today instead of Monday.)

Now as for this jive here:

I have no idea what you are saying here Flexxx. No CNC needed? For what I did through Shapeways, you are correct, they use a laser sintering process. If you are offering help via this conventional mill, then awesome, I assume I can just send you an .stl file and it can be made from that? What materials will you be able to work with?

Sorry to hear about the lathe. I wish I had a metal lathe, but there are a billion and one other things on my wishlist before that. Still, it would be all kinds of nice to have one.

I did an internet search for CAD/CAM and all I find are the various interfaces between various design programs and some sort of rapid prototyper type of cnc/mill device. Might have to be more specific before I catch the drift of what you are driving at there.
