The model you mention is tip-up carry:

. . . or did you have a typo, and you prefer only tip down carry?
As for kizer being unoriginal in designs, heres some info on the designer of the handles ;Kim Ning, the designer of it, put two important Chinese Ancient Elements on the knife handle, LingZi and Hui ZhuanLun, by using high technology Laser Carving machine.
“Ling Zi (Pheasant Tail)”, a decoration material for Chinese ancient Generals and hero’s armet, like Zhou yu, Lv BuWei and Cao cao. And the Sun wukong, a famous character of Chinese Myth Novel, also wears an armet with two long“Ling zi”. Wearing it always indicates that you are a capable, strong, brave, smart and powerful man.
“Hui ZhuanLun (Gyroscopewheel)”, another vital element of Chinese ancient culture, Became famous from the Warring States Period of China (Abt 2000 years ago). You can find Hui ZhuanLun (Gyroscopewheel) at a lot of Chinese ancient utensil.
LingZi is laying along the horizonal line of knife handle, and the HuiZhuanlun are spreading around Ling Zi, like many of guarding soldiers protecting the King or the General.
Mr Kim Ning was inspired by a Chinese ancient treasured sword which has more than 2,000 years’ history and just unearthed recently.

If the 4423 only looks like that regarding the handle then that's not for me. Too much bling! In the first post it looks less golden and tamer...

I don't know where they are designed, nor do I care. Enjoy your knives.;)

Talk about a cop-out response. I was getting ready for a real debate, and you just completely abandoned your previous statements without acknowledging or responding to any of mine.

At least we now know without a doubt that your opinion is based off of personal bias, and you have no interest in facts - which is what I suspected from the beginning, and was further reinforced by your unwillingness or inability to respond to my statements and questions.

Yeah, it's a little much. I'll probably still get it, though, provided the price is right. I am in love with that blade shape.

^ thats why i have half a dozen Brian Tighe customs. Carved, multi color anodized, grooved,im a sucker for it....

The Rough Riders I have seen posted here and the one I actually held was too ornate for me. I was discussing the particulars of the knives and my opinion of China made knife designs. You seem to be looking for more to argue about. This isn't the place for political discussion.

... I love that blade shape (what do we call that, a reverse tanto?)...

It is a clipped-point or (less common) "slant point" (same as a scimitar). Benchmade recently popularized the term "reverse tanto" to as a more catchy description of the clipped-point of their 940 Osbourne. Taken more literally, a "reverse tanto" would be a wharncliffe-style blade where the belly curves inward if at all, not outward as is the case in this knife and the 940....

But such confusion of terminology ABOUNDS in the knife-world, case-in-point being confusion over the term "choil". ;)

These seem heavy knives, overly thick blade-stock...?

Pretty much all of them are 4mm, which is a pretty average thickness. Definitely not thin, definitely not thick. Right in what I would call the sweet spot, where you have thick enough stock for harder use but not so thick that it feels like you're trying to cut things with a sharp bus.

I must say that is rather interesting. It's a marriage of ancient history and modern design. It also reflects in a general sort of way the traditional Chinese aesthetic, which is ornate (some would say "garish", at least in this shiny gold incarnation.) Reminds me of the way Mcusta designs most of its knives, rendering traditional Japanese aesthetics in modern knives..

Well, I have to admit that the blingtacular style doesn't bother me much at all. At this point, when I buy new knives they're mostly just toys to play with, because I still just end up carrying a Southard almost every day, and a WH E10 or ZT 0801 on most of the weird non-Southard days.

It may just be a sign of my advancing years as well--lately I've been staring at a fairly blinged out William Henry as well, with no small amount of "must buy more unnecessary knives" lust.

Good thread.

I am glad to see that they are offering models with tip-up pocket clip carry now.

I will be keeping track of these new models and when they will be available.

I really like the third option, but want tip up carry whenever possible. Keep up the good work!

I'm all about that first one. Also, it kinda makes me think of Sinbad. I just keep seeing it as a scimitar. Also, I'm glad to see tip-up and bearings finally in the mix.

Does that model have a steel lockbar insert? What's the planned release date on those, and the price?

Will release soon...abt 2 months.
