What do you think this is?

I'm still not sure, even with the updated images, what would be present on the knife that shows that it is not an apprentices work.

(given that you've already said that jerry debunked that)

Nothing that you see alone can really prove that it is not an apprentice, however there are a couple of things that lead me to believe it was not.

They are
1) It is large, most apprentice blades that I have seen are much smaller

2) the handles, quilted micarta handles were not the norm on apprentice blades

3) The talon hole area was nicely rounded, as it had been done with a purpose in mind, not just cut-off like some apprentice pieces.

4) And the fact that is looks like the other Hood variants that I had seen, especially from the ricasso back. Same handle shape, similar butts, similar placement of talon hole (or lack of talon hole)

All these things together lead me to believe that it was not an apprentice but was a authentic Busse. And then I was just willing to take a chance on it, because the evidence seemed to be favoring a Busse and not an apprentice

I hope that helps explain my thought process (and I could be wrong in some of my assumptions, luckily it still worked out for me ;) )

The last one in your greedy hood variant picture is incredible! What's its story?

Hello Andrew,
I hope you have been well, to bad about them Cat's ;)

I don't really know the story, I saw it on Ebay about 18 months ago and was lucky enough to win it

:D:D

Does some one who knows how to want to add a picture from my Hood knife thread to this so as to have a comparison?

Thank you, Mike Biz and Lil' Foo for the Tech Help.

The c9omb on the back is a built in scraper, it is I think for hides and such, bit I am not currently sure what it is made to scrape
