What do you toss in your pocket when taking a short hike

Not looking for the folder that can conquer the Apocalypse. Just what you toss in your pocket when you go for a short hike, or walk in the neighborhood. I carry either a Spyderco Native and Victorinox Huntsman, or just a Victorinox One Hand Trekker. Used to carry a Spyderco Endura 4 and a Leatherman Juice. Before that, a 551 Grip, and a LM Squirt. Lately, on the way home from work, I might get a wild hair and go for a short hike, with whatever I took that day. What do you do with your folders on these short hikes and walks. Any walk/hike that takes from an hour, to an entire day. I usually pick up a walking stick along the way, and quickly shape it to what I want for the trip. If I am happy with the carving, I toss it in the back of the truck. If I am not, I leave it at the trail head for someone else that might need it. If I have a little lunch with me, I might use the knife to slice the sandwich, or a piece of fruit. Any number of other everyday commonplace uses.

I keep this little pouch in my truck and grab it for every hike. Holds a Vic Farmer, BSA ferro rod and pry bar.

I grab one (or more) of these depending on what I'm doing that day:
  • Leatherman Squirt S4 (on my keychain with a Fenix L0D and a Suunto micro compass so I always have it)
  • Victorinox Farmer (or) Victorinox OHT (or) Strider SnG (or) Chris Reeve Small Sebenza (or) Benchmade Purdue 330
  • Leatherman Skeletool CX
  • Silky 170 (saw)
  • Scrap Yard SS4
  • Swamp Rat Camp Tramp
  • Swamp Rat Battle Rat

My PSKjr with green micarta, and OD kydex neck/pocket sheath, and as always my red alox Farmer.

However, I scored me a RAT Izula so it will be rotated in for sure.

SAK Farmer is always in my pocket. Usually have my Spyderco Endura 4 along on short hikes as well. Alternate that with a Delica, the small Manix, and sometimes a Tenacious (Have several Spyderco knives around). If I'm thinking ahead I'll strap on a fixed blade, usually my Breeden Pathfinder. Just got a "sidekick" from DP Knives that will probably be doing a lot of short hike duty. It's around 7" overall and is light and small. Very handy little knife.

Vic alox farmer and sometimes a Vic swiss spirit also. these are for utility not SD.

i carry "other things" for SD.:)

Key chain with Ferro rod, small led torch, piece of fatwood and Vic Classic Rambler on and either my SwampWarden or Wolfpup in my other pocket !

my typical EDC that comes in the woods with me whether i supplement it with more gear or not is

right front-stockman or mountain man trapper slipjoint
left front-12" paracord, 1 tube krazy glue, 1 tube chapstick, 1 lighter (just started carrying a zippo, was a Bic for a long time)
back left-sundry papers and money
back right-i just started carrying a small pad of paper and a nice pen, very handy so far already.

Being a short hike, could wind up being a long one if you're not prepared.
I usually carry my normal EDC's (sub-claw & a small FB),Bic lighter,cellphone,miniature first aid kit(about the size of a pack of smokes),some paracord,a firesteel,tinder & a Leatherman.
I fit all these in my pockets & on my belt comfortably without a pack.

small codura camera case with toiletpaper, wave, bic, small pencil, sheet of paper, cheap energizer headlamp,3 AAA batteries, zip lock bag for water carry or keep kit dry if needed, could probably use whistle and disposable plastic poncho. Camera case picked up a Salvation army. Key chain has pistol screwdriver and small flashlight with P38 (military can opener) attached all the time. Couple sheets of OP Site (Clear hospital bandage for IV). This is kept in each vehicle and always ready.

Well if its my pocket we're talking about, it's a Vic Farmer and a LMF scout.

Fallkniven P and a cell phone is always on my person, and for a hike add a Camelbak with at least a flashlight and lighter.

For a walk in the local park: A KSF Adirondack pocket sheath with
