What do you use for yard work

Mostly hedgeclippers, pruners and a mower, but occasionally my Hatchula or a small saw.

depends on job.
for "Machete" type work I use one of my 7" hunting knives

for light cutting like weeds my old serrated CS voyager

I live in rural area, but no wildness. Once in a while I need to cut vines or small branches. I found my Spyderco Persian sufficient for this task. Sometimes I want to get small fixed blade.

A Cold Steel Pendleton Lite Hunter work for me trimming up ivy, weeds, small branches...anything else gets shears/pruners or a more dedicated tool for the job. I trim ivy on and near brick, so the knife gets a bit beat up, but hey, it's cheap and easy to resharpen.

I have 'tested' most of my 'bushcraft' knives in my backyard, but use my Buck 119 & 192 the most. If you encounter poison ivy/oak, it's good to use a knife that can be dunked in a pale of hot/sudsy water, as well as disposable gloves. My wooded hillside backyard has been sprayed repeatedly with the likes of brush-b-gone, but the poison ivy/oak perseveres, as do the brambles. Mechanical destruction and removing the remnants works.
