What do you use to cut up BBQ ???

It was a great day. Three new Daltons, lunch with a great bunch of guys, and oh...did I mention the second gun and knife show? We left Charlotte after lunch and stopped by the Columbia show on the way back home. My primary intention was to see Wayne Childress and find out if he had my MOP/damascus left handed liner lock ready. It wasn't ready yet, but I just couldn't pass up this little Wharncliffe FB by Dave Manley. Dave makes some really nice fixed blades at very reasonable prices. The Wharncliffe cost me $60 and came with a really nice heavy leather sheath.

Llamedos - It never hurts to reserve a room early. I'll be reserving a block of rooms for NC forumites in the next few weeks. I waited until a month or so before the show last year and was still able to get several rooms without any problems, but the earlier, the better.

The show is only about 3 minutes by car from the hotel. The Hampton Inn is located on the other side of Cumberland Mall from the show's location. It's walkable, but a car is much preferable. The hotel will probably be able to give you a ride there and back if you need. That's pretty standard in most hotels. I'll have the wife's van, but we'll probably have too many people this year for just one vehicle. I'm sure a few of the other forumites would be willing to drive as well, so you should have no problems catching rides with us if you'd like. We'd love to have you hang out with us if you'd like. We usually do the BladeForums dinner immediately after the show (which was held in a restaraunt in the mall last year), then go and hang out around the hotel's pool, have a few drinks (and play with everyone's newest toys) until 2:00-3:00am. We then meet about 8:00am and do it all over again. Lemme know if you're interested. We'll make sure that you make it to the show and back.

Kelly,

You forgot to inform Llamedos that he probably wouldn't want to ride to the show with us anyway. Trust me on this Llamedos, we can turn a 3 minute ride into a 45 minute tour of Buckhead!

BTW Kelly, how's that Apogee? Ready to trade? I hear Bobby's got a LNIB 730!

Later,
Chris

Llamedos - Don't you listen to them! I was just driving where my "back seat drivers" told me to. CPR and his wife, Dex, Gary Graley, DeadinNC, Alan Folts, and RJT (who did I miss) were the ones shouting out directions. We could see the building we wanted off in the distance... and see it... and see it... as we passed it multiple times! It actually turned out to be one of the best times of teh whole trip as we couldn't stop laughing as we missed turns and made U-turns (and made more U-turns). That was one trip we'll never forget.

Each day we trimmed time off of the trip, finally resulting in our three minute trip right to the front door of the show! LOL We'll (probably) remember how to get there this year!

And just WHAT is wrong with Buckhead? One of the nicest neighborhoods in Atlanta. Well, unless something has changed since i was last there in ... what... 7 years or so. Trouble getting around Atlanta? Geez, you guys should try D.C. sometime. Not only don't the roads make sense, they will change from day to day, based on where the Philanderer -- oops, I mean President -- is going to be ... um... well, anyway, that day.

Um... pardon me... is my envy showing? Sorry about that.

I don't know why everyone got excited about the photo's. Isn't that the way any good Southern boy sets the table for dinner?

I noticed the service got a lot better after we whipped out our knives! The lunch was a blast.I can hardly wait for the Blade Show when we can be joined by westcoast and new england forumites. We`ll probably need to rent an aircraft carrier flight deck to have enough room for all the steel on display.
Chris,got any windex? ;-)
Terill, nice to have you on board.Hope you will join us in the madness.

Congrats Damon! Glad it found a good home & if it is the appetizer wait till you get the main courses from Rob. By Blade show I'll have 5 of Rob's including a new model that we are collaborating on(in Talonite - called the Bushido). You may not remember but we met at the Chesapeake Show - Darrel wound up making me a whole new Extreme Apogee that is way nicer than the one I had then.

Dexter, we met briefly at Chesapeake & I was disapponted that it was only 10. I do 10 without a vest regularly, but I may just invest in a vest for the Blade Show - I may triple that. And that's not counting fixed blades!

I'm looking forward to meeting yo'all down there in Hot 'Lanta - I'm sharing a table with Dave Ellis so come on by if I don't find you first. And I might have to stay at the Hampton since y'all appreciate the good things in life - good barbecue & sharp knives! - and do it right! Plus I'll have my car if additional transportation is needed.

Again Congrats Damon - you will really like the knife!
Bill
