What do you wear in the shop?

Patrice, I like the ones marked 2 1/2 with glass lenses. It does mean you are going to end up with your face just inches away from the grinder if you use them then, and I do. Frank

Rick is definitely lookin' good:thumbup: Nick, since you didn't post up a pic, I'll have to use my imagination:eek:

I'm pretty much in the same boat. Jeans or work pants and a t-shirt. I'll add a hoodie if it's cold, and my horse blanket lined carhartt jacket if it's really cold. I've learned not to wear thermal type tops when it's cold. when cutting or drilling steel, the metal shavings tend to get stuck in the waffle type weave of the fabric. No good when you get pricked later on:(

In warm weather I tend to wear flip flops most of the time if I'm not at work, so it's hard to resist the temptation to just run into the shop with them on to do some quick work. I try to always have so decent shoes on when working.

I prefer to go more casual in my shop. Two pairs of sweat pants and a couple hoodies if its around 40 degress, 3 hoodies for the 30's. Most likely the forge will be running to.

Paddy you gotta buy my calendar to find out..............:p Want my PP addy?

Larry

You know Larry, after reading what Nick wears and a few others don't, I think I'll pass.;)

Thanks Frank, I think that's what I have but I am afraid to put my already ugly mug that close to the grinder. :(

Raymond, when did Captain Ahab come for a visit? :p;)

What do I wear in the shop? Steel down into something that looks like a knife, if I'm lucky.

Rick, funny how your expression in your "shop clothes" pic looks exactly like your avatar. What did you do to get your face stuck that way? Kinda looks like you're sneaking a Silent but Violent into those spandex. Also, why don't you just heat the steel with your laser vision and then squeeze it to shape with your bare hands? That you use a forge and grinder somehow seems condescending now.

Carhartts, jeans, whatever I can find at thriftstores or yard sales. Same stuff I wear everywhere. Doc Marten steel-toe wellingtons. They're real comfy, and slip off easy when coming to the house for coffee and Bladeforums time.

You guys remind me of my cousin who insists that REAL men cook bacon with their shirt OFF!

We wear pretty much what we wear everywhere else. Double front carhartts, T-shirt and a hoodie we take off to forge, ball cap for me, welding hat for Adam. Adam wears leather work boots and I prefer a pair of rubber boots I cut off into 'shoes'. It's a bit cold come winter so we often wear fleece pants and wool shirts underneath and pack boots. I confess in summer I do have a favorite floor length skirt that my family has dubbed my 'forging skirt'. Girls...

We've gone with the 3m full face shield respirators and can't recommend them enough. No fogging up the glasses and alot less gunk inside you at the end of the day. We've got Kenny Rowe leather aprons for damascus.
