What does everyone else do when "waiting patiently" for a new knife?

I sorta went overboard (for me) here.... reading every post period from the time I got interested in ordering the HEST/f to the time i did order it...well, up to now actually.

part of the reason I'm leaving on a trip for a week is to break my own little addiction to reading every post / trying to glean every bit of knowledge, etc....

so while I wait...and to break my own addiction - I'm going for solo woods therapy. :)

By the way, Rob, BBT is "Big Brown Truck" aka the UPS guy. Sorry. I'm used to using that from a few other forums and don't think about it.

Ugh, Joe. Sorry man. I know what you're saying, as I recently dealt with a spate (thankfully relatively short) of unemployed-itis. Best wishes on a speedy return to the ranks of the "working stiffs." :D

I ordered an ESEE -3 on Monday. Since then, my wife keeps asking me why I keep looking at it's picture on the computer, hitting the refresh button and trying to touch it through the screen.

About the same as said before, youtube reviews and lookin at pics. Sometimes I feel guilty and go outside and play with an older one.

Watching videos of the knife I orderd. And try to finde out what to buy next! But normaly I allredy know whats next :-)

Youtube knife reviews, and reading most of the 200 and something pages of this great forum.

I spend the time at the ESEE site and I keep clicking on the ESEE pack page to see if it's fall yet and if they are available for sale yet.

I just try not to get to hostile, the guys at work know when a new ones coming, I get like a wild animal, start wrestling with them, and then once I get it, I can't be found!!!!!

custom knife or production knife?

with a custom you've gotta wait to get to the top of the maker's waiting list... so you're waiting before the thing even gets made. then many makers don';t want payment untill it's complete... so you've gotta gt the bill and send the payment. some makers don't do paypal. then you get to wait for him to send it.

production knife, no problem. order it and when it shows up you can play with it all you want. hopefully you've got enough other goodies to get you thru 'till then.

if you're waiting on something that's backordered for the order to heip, ask the vendor to ship what's available. you may need to pay for shipping but some will cover shipping the backordered item.

for some of my motorcycle or gun projects i end up hunting for used parts on ebay or on the various forum classifieds. frequently it takes a while to get all the parts to complete something... this only leads to more projects so you increase the chances of finding the parts to move something forward... or at least that's the theory. lets just say that some things take some time to find the part i'm looking for at a price i want to pay.

I use my old ones :D Or sharpen, reprofile, etc-general gear maintenance always soaks up alot of time, and with the right combination of 30 Seconds to Mars, the Moody Blues, and Rick Springfield, can be alot of fun.

I laughed when I read this thread because we've all gone through it. Now we know we're not alone !!

I tend to go outside into the bush with the current knife I have and do some bushcraft and tell myself that the new knife can't do anything that the old one can't do. Self trickery..It never works!

This forum is the biggest help. It`s a support circle of like minded knife addicts.

Welcome to the KA meeting! would anyone like to introduce themselves?

hi, i'm fixer and i'm a knife addict. it's been umm... five days since i've purchased a knife. it just came in the mail yesterday and i already want another one!

Oh BS, Wriggs!! This isn't a support center or a help. It's the biggest friggin' bunch of enablers you'll ever meet. I have to stay away or they'll talk me into ANOTHER buy.

Not that that's necessarily a BAD thing...
