A lot of shoes are made in the Philippines. I don't know how many she left behind, when she fled the country, but I think it had more to do with her involvement in the shoe making industry, than any sort of fetish. People like to make a big deal out of what usually amounts to not much of anything. What they should be concerned about is how many of those shoes end up being sold as "Made in Italy" when they are really made in the Philippines
