What flipper's action suprised you for the price? For better or worse...

I own and enjoy a couple Kershaw Skylines. The flipping action is not good on either of them. But I love them anyway!

Guardian Tactical Helix. Detent is strong, but once you get an idea of the pressure, the blade flies open, and it just drops closed. I actually don't have a lot of flippers, but this one easily works best.

Out of the ZT's I have, the 0801 has been the best flipper in the ZT line.
Hinderer, the worst. I've grown accustom to using the thumb studs and the flipper tab as a finger guard.

My Zts all have good action. 801, 560 (lightst detent), 562, 452.

This is a front flipper but has stupid smooth action. Katsu titanium framelock. Only 100$. Made in Japan.

On the right.

Really? That's awesome. I've been interested in this one. Just wish they had more options than just plain.

Dude get one. Seriously. I freakin love mine. I cannot tell you in words how satisfying it is. It’s like the hogue ex01 and the Para 2 has a perfect child. I highly recommend it. I believe OTFman May still have one for sale.

There are about 20 or 30 more yt videos of pure awesomeness that is the Freeman knives 451 flipper. Comes in a variety of materials. Tho I think they are currently made to order. Seriously awesome knife.

love me a good front flipper :)

Search Katsu titanium framelock in google if you are interested. They have my model and another one. Two titanium framelocks. These are some of the best deals in the knife world right now. Quality is outstanding and they are only $100 each. These have the best front flipping action on any front flipper I have tried and I have tried several. Thick Ti frame with real CF insert. Big knives though, 4 inch blade.

Here is a shot of the backside. Clip doesn’t come anodized purple, I did that myself.

Here you can see how nice and thick the frame is.

ZTs are great flippers, almost all flips like a dream, but if you try Reate you will be surprised positively. Really great action.

I had watched Nick Shabazz's video, but i was still blown away by how smooth the North Arm Skaha is/was. Still the smoothest knife ive held to date.

Knives that I own that I like the action on:
- Factor Iconic Compact CF and full size Ti
- Factor Absolute
- ZT0452CF
- ZT0450
- ZT0900
- ZT0562
- Real Steel Gerfalcon G5 (Good for the price. Much better than the Kizer listed below and it's a bit cheaper too)

Surprised by bad action
- Kizer Begleiter.

I just bought this cause I liked the looks of the blue one with the uncoated blade. I hate this thing. Keep thinking of just throwning it away but I haven't. I've taken it apart, polished the insides, polished the detent and lightened it up a bit and it still just sucks.

My ZT 0095S90BLK is really smooth when opening. It’s that darn lock sticking probably 50% of the time that I’m disappointed with. I’ve read here of people using a pencil on it to make it better, but have never tried doing that.

Best are my źt's 0450 cf, 0095bw and 0055. Worst spyderco positron it was terrible, so much so I gave it away as a gift.

I have a couple of with lock stick 0452 and a Reate. Pencil is graphite and you can buy graphite powder lube used in locks for example. So it could help

Thanks. Now that you mention it, I think I may have some of the powder that I forgot I had. I will give that a shot.

The flipping action of my WE Knife 705 is outstanding! It also drops shut smoothly with no shaking then locks up solidly with no play. It also opens easily with a thumb or middle finger flick on the fuller.

I was also impressed with the flipping action of my new Hinderer XM-18 3.5 Sheepsfoot. It’s no ball bearing flipper, but it has a nice detent and flips reliably. I was worried with all the online comments about Hinderer not flipping worth a crap, but my 5th gen is just fine.

Buck 830 Marksman. If you want a really frictionless feel it absolutely trashes almost everything else available, production or custom. The Freeman 451 is the only thing that compares. Only thing about those two is they're smooth enough to be dangerous to unwary fingers. The Marksman, in particular, takes so little force to flip open that if you don't give it a little oomph it will bounce rather than lock and slam the blade right back down.
