After hearing a lot about how bad the Spyderco Positron's action is, I was surprised to find that it was actually pretty decent. That's not to say it's fantastic; it could use a better detent, and occasionally fails to fire all the way to lock ... but it moves very smothly. Just a great pivot feel.
In contrast, while the Southard has a strong detent and I really have to try to get it to not fire properly, it just feels gritty and frictiony. While I'd rather have a knife that works right and feels meh than one that feels great and doesn't work, is it too much to ask to get both pieces right on a $200+ knife?
