What folder would you get if you had 300-500 to spend?

I would try to get my hands on the prototype of the Speedform. The exact knife that won American Made Knife of the year. Ill be picking up the production one anyhow, but to have the blade that was actually voted on would be sweet!

If I couldnt get that blade than I owuld probably go the custom route.

Try a MT LCC or Socom. Any entry level Crawford folder. Perhaps a lower priced 29 Knives balisong. You could also send a knife to Reese Weiland for a high end pimping to one of your knives.

It's unlikely that I will ever spend that much money on any kind of knife.

But if I WERE going to do so, I would go with your original plan of a Sebenza with one of the nice graphics.

You can find a Sebenza used on the exchange in the $300 to $350 range and spend the rest on the new cf s90v manix 2.

I sold off a few odd knives I had laying around. So, I've been wanting a Chris Reeve folder and that's more than likely what i will wind up with.
But, I'd like to hear what folder others would buy if they were spending 300 to 500 dollars. I'm not the type to jump into a purchase very quickly, so maybe I will hear about something else to consider!:)

I will buy Dozier folder.

Thanks, Vassili.

I faced the dilemma of how to spend nearly half a kilobuck on folders over the last nearly two months. I chose a Benchmade trio - a new Skirmish, RUKUS, and 760BKLTi. A few bucks left over to put towards a regrind, if needed, or band-aids.

If it must all go for one, a new Benchmade 'Gold' 525-81, in person, is mighty nice. Sure, it's a <3" teardrop Damascus blade with an AXIS lock and a CF handle exuding some serious fine finishing. Neat - and only MSRP half a kilobuck. A large Sebbie with inlays is nice, too. Decisions....

Actually, I wouldn't trade my new trio for either.

A Sebenza is always a good choice but for that sort of cash you could get a real nice custom too.
If you get a custom there is also usually room for the maker to tweek the knife to your own specs.

Large Regular Sebenza ( I prefer the regular over the 21 ) I carry one for EDC and it does all I need it too. I got mine for $315 It was someones safe queen. So it pays to shop around and wait a little if you can. Nothing wrong with the 21, I just prefer the blade shape of the regular is all.

Lambert Inferno

That would be a good choice. Here are my favs in that range.

Lambert Whar-$400
Lambert Inferno-$450 Frame lock Inferno-$550
CRK Umnumzaan-$375

Brian Tighe Coon - $525
Chris Reeve Mnandi (love that little guy) - starts at $350 I think
Randy Doucette Watchdog folder - $495

I've dabbled in customs some lately. Anso, Dozier, to name a couple of them. NONE have had the fit and finish, perfect lock up and manufacturing of the Sebenza.

Which really bums me out. :( When I am spending $600 for a brand new dozier folder and the lockup isn't tight it just plain sucks. I have had about 7 sebenzas in my hand at one time or another. I couldn't find a flaw on one of them.

For the money I say Sebenza.
