What folders are the Beckerheads carrying?

Also not a Becker head...yet, but today (and many days) its a Kershaw Camber. It gets rotated with a Benchmade Mini Grip, Spyderco PM2, Spyderco Manix 2, and Kershaw Skyline. Also have a Spyderco Manix 2 XL, but its a little big for every day, depending on where I'm at & what I'm doing. Benchmade Grip 550HG is on the way.

It took a lot of frog kissing to get to my prince.

I carried the Mini-Grip for a few years and moved up to the full sized Benchmade 550HG Griptilian about 3 years ago. I don't even look around anymore. This is the prince alright (at least in my price range).

I would fancy a ZT someday.

ZT 0350 is on my wish list.

If you use it out of the office, do you notice any lateral flex? How thin do you have the edge, and do you notice any significant deformation due to harder materials such as plant matter or small handyman sort of around the house tasks?

Thanks for the initial reply.

Pardon the ignorance...I assume lateral flex would mean blade play? Yes it has blade play. I can't tell you in degrees how thin my edge is. Its like the Japanese version of a scandi grind. The steel is brittle and can chip easily. I mostly use it to cut up food, and whittle at the bus stop. I wouldn't recommend it for any hard use...but would probably excel at pruning soft flesh plants.

I have that same BM. The ball-lock is very nice. I like it a lot even though I'm not a huge fan of the FRN (read: plastic) handle. If I ever find the ambition, I'll make some custom ones for it.

Yes, you would. Very different class of knife, depending on which one you fancy....

Today my 0200 was in my work pants pocket. Normally I don't carry anything that large or nice into MA, because all the different municipalities have different restrictions, but today I just figured WTH:

I think I have the post-"round hole" Grip. Looks a little bit more beat up than yours:

I have a few too many to choose from. I'm almost embarassed to post this shot, and even more so to admit that there have been a, ah....few more *cough* that have joined the ranks since this was taken more than a year ago.

The top one is a first production run Gerber I got from a friend about 15yrs ago. (don't know the model)
Then a mini Griptillian below that.
Opeinel #9 on the bottom.
The one on the right is another Gerber I got about 30yrs ago, can't remember the model and it used to be my only outdoor knife, it has processed deer from field dressing to helping getting it ready for the freezer with the help of a saw and a butcher knife at home. Its handled squirrel, rabbit, fish and grouse. It holds an excellent edge. It doesn't see much use these days, but it still rides in my EDC bag.
The others I carry at different times and they all see use.

Hello granitestateofmind,

I agree a bit. The handle feels strange at times, "hollow" for lack of a better description, but it is one of those give and take/weigh your options things. I like the knife enough that I will accept the handle deal. I love the axis lock as it is easier on the fingers then some frame or liner locks. I have an old Emerson with a liner lock that destoys my fingers.

Admittedly my Grip is a bit of a purse queen.

A collection to be admired to be certain. Thanks for sharing! I appreciate it.

I just ordered a ZT0200 from kershawguy.com.

I've never spent that much on a knife before...

They're nice... that's why :D that thing is a beast. Absolutely solid knife. Folding version of the ZT 0100 heh.

By lateral flex, I meant if you could feel any sideways play kn the pivot while the blade was opened.

I appreciate the info, did you reshape the edge at all, put a wider bevel on the final edge? What steel do you have? I have seen aogami blue and white paper steels, among others, offered.

I have been interested in picking one of these up and you are the first person I have spoken with that has some hands on experience.

Sorry for the derail folks.

Well...it's a beast, and it has a very smooth pivot for a knife with washers and no bearings. And you'll lose very little if you decide to move it along....but I'm guessing you'll be keeping it.

I've been wanting one for a long time but the price kinda turned me off. I have a ZT0350 blem and a ZT0700 that was on sale for $80 so I've never paid full price for a ZT before. But I had seen that they were discontinued, not sure if it's all 200's or just those specific finishes but I figured they're not gonna get any cheaper.

I've been carrying this lately but I can't say I care for it too much. I've misplaced my DMF AND my leatherman.. Sigh...
