What happened to all the Microtech Fans????

They have some great models , both manual and auto .The Amphibian is a great general pourpose user . I like the Microbar lock . They make the only American Tanto that that I've found usefull . Their autos , otf and sidewinders , helped put autos on the map . It's unfortunate the C/S and other issues persist , these make owing one of the best factory folders a bit problematical .

seriously cdf, amigo

i think most folks repeat a story that they think they heard from someone once after bandcamp

I have NOT had to send 1 darn knife back to MT.....

has anyone who posted here so far had to?

maybe the people who do arent 100% honest as to why theyre sending it in when they post here or elsewhere too.

I KNOW of one pretty popular knifemaker who sent one in because he took it apart to poilsh it and couldnt get it back together..

now that says A LOT!!!!

Excellent point. Lots of talk about warranties on the forums, but no mention of the fact that sometimes the companies with the "best warranty in the business" is, in fact, more likely to let a knife leave the factory with a problem in the first place.

Of the 30 or so Microtechs I've owned I had one with a blade that was a little off-center in the handle and one that had a satin finish that was a little bumpy on one side.

Microtechs Warranty and Customer Service don't mean JACK to me ANYWAY because I can't send one back to them even if I needed to because I'm not really supposed to have them in the first place. ;) (OK, TECHNICALLY I'm allowed to have them in my home - just not carry them.)

I still buy Microtechs but I don't buy any of those "Super Warranty" brand. I wonder why that is?

Actually I have sent two different Socom Elite M/As back to Microtech for service. One because the blade was slightly off center and I'm micro picky. The other one was because I was prying with it and snapped off the tip. In both cases the repair was handled in a timely and professional manner. I've heard many people complain about their service, but have only had good experiences myself.

Ron, you know we're buds, and I know you love MT, as do I, but, come on man, don't pretend that the customer service horror stories were one time at band camp. I saw a lot of guys on 'Holics, as did you, guys who were MT fans, relating some pretty major CS issues, do you not remember the guy who was told he couldn't send his broken knife in for repair, or the guy who waited about a year to get his knife back? I'm sure I can find these threads, as well as many others with similar stories. Maybe MT is improving as of late, but you know as well as I do, they really dropped the ball for a while with warrantee work, and I sincerely hope they do improve, since I still have a whole bunch of MTs that one day might need service.

i still love you man!

I have heard lots of stories, many people send in knives under false pretenses
is what I was referring to.

Just quit working often translates to I took it apart and cant fix it now!!

jerzee devil, smiling and waving*

Ron , you make a good point . If I pull a bonehead , Ie; tampering or modding a piece , I dont expect Tony to underwrite the cost of my research . Now that I think on it , I've never returned any production knife . When something fails I usually S$$$can it .
