Dang, I hate to hear that, He will definetly be missed.

Hope things are going good for him otherwise.

Well, crap. I’ve only been here a short time and in that time Thomas was very helpful, informative, and not to mention very generous with all those giveaways.

I will miss Thomas also. He really kept this forum in line with his insider knowledge combined with his interest in us Kershaw customers. I feel he really did enjoy the discussions that took place here and he will be missed.
Good Luck to you Thomas

Thomas won't be back.
Ignorant Trolls & Noobs: +1
Knife Community: -1

Thomas is a great person and one of the good guys in the knife community. The entire Kershaw crew are great.

I've noticed lately there seems to be a rash of relatively new members who have little or no credibility making poor posts and trolling. The best way to learn is to read more and post less. Read as much as you can from people like Tim Galyean, Ken Onion and Thomas. Kershaw has been and continues to be a leading edge knife company. Thomas worked for years in the knife industry before moving to Kershaw. I've found his insight and advise to be invaluable.

Very few people fully understand how much has been lost by Thomas not participating. :(

such is the forum atmoshpere... I'm not too new but it's my experience that old and new alike can get overly emotional. And just because someone is new here, doesn't mean they are new to knife forums, or forums in general. Also, that they are new to knives. I think a veteran could fall into a trap assuming that or talking down to someone who may really know their stuff. The fact is, membership here is made up by everyone.. young and old, new and veteran. The nature of forums is pretty much a free for all, with a few perameters. You need to accept the true face of it, take it with a grain of salt, not take yourself too seriously.. or the knives for that matter. "Drama in the Knife Community" won't be the headline tomorrow on the national news. Thomas is invaluable, but he obviously knows when he needs a break and where his priorities lie.

Well that really sucks. It's really too bad that one jerk could cause so much damage.

If Thomas is reading this, or if someone is relaying to him, let him know that the good FAR away the bad around here, and a lot of people come to this board specifically looking for Thomas's answers to Kershaw questions.

Won't be the same. Nope.

Thats really too bad to hear. I hope Thomas will reconsider. His knowledge and insights were a valuable part of this community and have increased my respect for Kershaw a lot.

Don't let these type of folks get you down Thomas and good luck if you're reading this.

I wish he would not leave. One of the frustrating things about the trolling threads is that legitimate questions often get lumped in. I would hate to think that my question about the opening of the JYD contributed to Thomas's frustration. I can't flick a knife in a psych clininc. I loved the design.

I'm brand new to the Kershaw scene, so I don't know anything about Thomas, but I don't think any individual member needs to worry that they precipitated his departure. My experience on a number of other forums indicates that situations like this develop gradually and eventually come to a head. Often times, people just need a break for a while to regroup. I certainly hope this is the case with Thomas, as I have seen the respect he has earned from Kershaw fans, even in the short time I've been browsing the Kershaw subforum.

Godspeed and God Bless, Thomas, whether you choose to rejoin us or not (I hope you do).

Very well put Chuck. I didnt know Thomas very well but emailed him once recently and he responded the next day and you cant ask much more than that. I dont know what happened but I wish him well.

I'm really gonna miss Thomas. I used to go to his profile and view
every post he made. I didn't want to miss anything.
The man knows his stuff.

Tim, if your looking, would please thank  Thomas for the JYDII SG2
I will be receiving tomorrow?

:grumpy::grumpy:

i have already made it clear how i feel about Thomas's leaving. what i will not make clear is what, as a youth who is used to internet culture also, my opinion is on our 22 year old "friend"'s comments in this thread. in short, i agree with Dave

The guy is one of the few that I call brother.

He really didn't want to do the whole "internet presence" thing...he had to be begged and cajoled to take it on....he had some fun, but it did not make up for the "ignorant trolls and noobs" that he had to put up with.

While he was active, he had Sal's presence on the Forums thrown in his face, as an example, and had to deal with insults on an almost weekly basis. He loves his job, and he loves knives...but he found little to love about the Forums.

He doesn't NEED the "love" from you all(but I am sure that it is nice), all he asks is basic decency. Thomas has a hard time with abject rudeness, he doesn't like how it makes him feel, and he certainly had a problem with the names that Kershaw products have been called, "junk" being a real stinger. So he left his position as Forum Moderator, and this is final.

So in that, the wet-behind-the-ears poster is correct....Thomas is not made for the internet, it was hard work for him. That is of MUCH more of a loss to those on the various internet forums than it is to Thomas, I assure you all.

Sadly,

STeven Garsson

I thought this was it -- I'm sure the rest of you did, as well.

"Abject rudeness." That's as good a name as any I've ever heard for this sort of Internet behavior.

If you can't stand in front of someone and say it to their faces, why would you presume to post it on the Internet? If you can't treat others with respect, what do you think you should expect in return?

Maybe I'm too old to 'get it.' :grumpy:

I completely agree. Most of the 'brave' guys on these forums are the people who in real life can't deal face to face with conflict. they feel a sense of power by cutting someone else down. it somehow soothes their very real and probably accurate feelings of inadequacy.

sorry thomas but your response is understandable.

best,
brett
