What happened with Fallkniven?

I'm still a fan of their. ( and Hattori's 😉) work..........And Moki...........Anywho, great knives. Prices just need
some rethinking though....

That’s the same here. I like their knives I’m just not willing to pay the price they are currently asking.

Personally I think there are a few companies that are getting to proud of their products. Just my opinion. Maybe I’m just a cheapskate.😂

I used to have their F1 long time ago and the factory edge chipped from cutting a pineapple (Swedish army test 😁). Handle was painfully thin and sheath was slightly abobe mora. Customer service was arrogant and I’ve read the same from other people.

I’ve never considered anything from them again, and never will.

If you want a knife with rubber handle get Peltonen Ranger knife - military favorite of many. Other to consider is Terävä series from Varusteleka.

Any other full-tang recommendations under 200eur?

So far I'm drawn to LionSteel M4-CVN M390 & Victorinox Venture Pro.

Both of those should serve you well and there is always the ubiquitous Mora.

Personally I really like these...........

I have several Fallknivens and have found them to be generally good knives, if a little overpriced.

My F1 in 3G has been excellent, and I have never had any problems with it, despite a great deal of hard use.

My F1x (with the factory edge) did chip badly when I used it to chop out a briar rose, but I was able to fix it without too much trouble.

In my view, the criticism is not unfounded, but perhaps occasionally a little overstated. I do agree that their warranty policy seems a little strange given the intended use of the knives they make. I mean, if you wanted a delicate slicer, why make it out of 5mm stock? Surely such a knife is designed to be bashed through a lump of hardwood.

Its a love hate relationship..😜
I love the work Hattori does for them...Their fixed blades are very nice but like Benchmade they add an ego tax that's really annoying...... So second hand is my preferred method😉.....Back to 4 now & one due soon...😜

Falkniven makes an elegant looking knives but I agree with most of the consensus that they are wildly overpriced for what you actually get. Having said that, I have two of their Northern Lights series - a Tor and a Frej - and I love them both.

I’ve heard that the Tor - or Thor - is made in the same Japanese plant where the CS Trailmaster was made and looking at them side by side, the blade configurations are virtually identical. The Tor being slight longer.

I can post side by side pics tomorrow if anybody is interested enough to want to see that.

Hattori does ALL of Fallkniven's fixed blades.....Moki does their folders.....
You can see his work below!!

As far as I remember I have never bought any of their knives.
However, many years ago, I bought one of their double sided ceramic/diamond sharpening stones.
The ceramic side was wavy instead of flat. When I mentioned it, in some forum, I was told, by their fans, that basically I should not complain but find a way to make it flat myself, using some other stone, as they were really brilliant products and falkniven could do no wrong as all the "operators" were using them, and so on.

That said a lot to me about their product quality, negating the need for me to give them any more of my money, as I was not enlightened enough to appreciate them.

I still love and use my DC4 all the time. The "ceramic" side is unique in that you can almost form a slurry. Great medium grit that covers a lot of ground in refining scratch pattern.

How does 3G steel hold up over time? I remember i had a fixed blade from fallkniven in the steel and it developed "acne" rust after sitting around in a container for a couple months, that's not indicative of its worth as a user, but worth mentioning

3 g is laminated with vg-1 on the outside so it doesn't scratch like all the vg -10 core models with the 420j side slabs.......A really noticeable difference..... If the bothers you..... I don't care.... I like scars..😉...
It holds an awesome edge for damn long while...Diamonds sharpen it quick enough.. I use.a.diamond. emulsion on my strop,.one.side.anyway😜.......I like LamCoS the best honesty..... Edge holding is.real good and strops back to a laser

As much as I’ve states my dislike for the company my DC3 is a fantastic little stone to put a quick edge on pocket knives.
