What has been your EDC progression?

My first EDC was a gifted to me keychain knife by Zippo, which had small blade (always dull), little scissors and a file. I carried for about three years and than decided that I need something bigger, like SAK(still dull), which I carried for eight years. Than few one-hand openers: Emerson Traveler, Griptilian, Native, Delica, Adventura, all within few month. For last three years: C83 Persian, Caly3, and Kopa Coco. Recently I added Native4.

Didn't really EDC until the Enduras came out. 24/7 ever since. Got a Military recently, but it didn't bump the old Endura out of my pocket. The Endura is a perfect fit.

Maxam knife > Navy 440c knife > Kershaw Skyline > SOG Flash > Spyderco Endura 4

Mercator >crkt 16 > SOG Flash ll > Spyderco Native > Para D2 > Stretch ll

Order from my youngest years until now!

Buck 110
Spyderco Endura (The first one that came out)
Benchmade AFCK
Al Mar SERE
Spyderco Military (My main EDC as on right now, somtimes I carry a Police 3, and Endura FFG G10, but 95% of the time it is the Military, of all the knives I have carried over the years, the Military is by far the best of all of them). Today I am carrying my BG-42 Millie!

I mostly carried carbon steel Barlows untill my first spyderco Endura FRN with "G2" ( gin -1) and integral FRN clip. This was 92. Next serious knife was benchmade emerson model? CQ7 long bladed model.

various models came and went, but the Endura stayed. I still have it intact with the clip usable.

The various model Enduras upgraded me , now I carry ZDP endura, or G10 VG10 FFG.

Lately I have been carrying the Police 3.

Lots of knives have come and gone as a second knife, while still carrying the endura. I can carry 10 knives ( exaggeration) but if I don't have the endura I feel naked.

I have been carrying knives to try out new steels as they come available, example Kershaw S110V, Benchmade CPM M4, etc. I believe I always will be looking for that next steel, preferring Tool steels, carbon steels, high alloy steels, and the new stainless super steels.

I don't much care about looks or color of a knife. I like 1) steel at high RC's 2) ergonomics, 3) size. at least 3.5 inches. preferably FFG, thin slicers

As far as Spyderco's go:

Salt 1 (lost :() ----> Military BG-42 ----> Salt 1 (another one, lost at the beach) ----> Paramilitary CPM-D2

Bad luck with the Salt 1's.... going to pick up a Pacific soon. Maybe I'll be more cognizant of it being in my pocket because it's a little heavier.

Delica PS -> AFCK PS -> Benchmade Emerson -> Mini AFCK -? AFCK (second one ) -> BM 210 -> Graham Razel (midtech) -> Bark River Mikro Canadian II -> current day, which is a BRKT Pro Scalpel II and/or Micarta Kopa. I work in a high-rise office now, and am in Canada, or the AFCK might be broken out again. Love that knife!

I work in a high-rise office now, and am in Canada, or the AFCK might be broken out again. Love that knife!

Break it out again anyway!
I live in Canada, and work in a lab(when not attending university), and my Military or Emerson Comrade are the usual EDC.
So, unless your office has some silly policy and checks your pockets like office gestapo, you're good to go.:)

Roughly the progression since I was 7 years old. There are a few others in there, but these are the ones that I carried as my primary EDC.

Two-blade trapper (my first knife. I wish I still knew where it was)
bootleg SAK
2-blade Barlow knife
1-blade barlow knife
cheap spyderco delica knockoff
cheap spyderco cricket knockoff
Stanley folding exacto knife
Buck lite
Buck protoge
Spyderco native GIN1 (then I lost it)
CRKT Kiss
Gerber ez-out jr
Buck odyssey (then I lost it but found my native again)
Spyderco native GIN1 (the same one as before)
Another Buck odyssey
Spyderco Calypso jr
Spyderco rescue special edition
CRKT M1 lightfoot
Benchmade Mini Pika II

Current rotation:

Spyderco Endura 4
Spyderco Delica 4W
Spyderco Endura 4W

Expected future EDC:

Stretch II FRN VG-10

For me:

some no name flea-market knife
Kershaw Leek
Spyderco Delica
Spyderco Endura
Back to Spyderco Delica
Mini-grip (only handled it in a store after ordering, I think I might be coming back to the Delica)

So far the best for me has been the Delica. I want to get a ZDP Delica, or try out a Caly3 soon. Been thinking about sending my delicas to Tom Krein.
If I could carry a FB without issue, I'd EDC an Izula.

Let's see; off the top of my head; spanning from August 2004-May 2009. Just for Spyderco knives.

*I consider any knife an "EDC Knife" if I carry it long enough to have to sharpen it. Usually @1-2 weeks.

Pacific Salt>Native>Manix>Yojimbo>Dodo>Atlantic Salt>Tasman Salt>Lava>Captain>Delica 4>Endura 4>SpyderCard>Rescue 93mm>Shabaria>Barong>Khukri

:)

I started with a lowly stockman slippie. Progressed through various lock backs (Mostly 70's era Puma's and Gerbers.) Now I carry Sebenzas, an Emerson min cqc7', Militarys, Natives, and increasingly I carry a good old stockman again.

Several SAKs > Cheap folding Tanto > Smith and Wesson Swat Tanto > Tenacious > Delica4 > Endura4 > Military > Paramilitary > Boker Subclaw > Fallkniven U2

As you can see my obsession changed from larger "tactical" knives to more smaller traditional knives. Although I really sometimes do miss EDCing my Military.

Lone Wolf Harsey T1 > Spyderco Jigged Bone Micro Dyad > Spyderco Caly3 > Spyderco UKPK > Spyderco Para Millie > A variety of SAK's, but I carry a Spartan more than any other > Kershaw Skyline > Kershaw Zing > Kershaw Chive > Blade-tech Mouse. I rotate between these, but it seems the Spartan and the Caly3 mostly (until I get a Strider PT CC).

Browning Mountain TI>Gerber Evo>Spyderco Endura 4>Spyderco Scorpious>Spyderco Clip It-Salt 1 Full SE... Love the salt 1- so light yet the same size as a delica and i work at a pool so the H1 steel is unbeatable around the water to prevent rust... working on a police G10 and a millie for outside the pool

As far as spydies go:
Native I
D4W
Caly 3
Salt
D2 Para
Cricket
Cricket SE
Cricket Hybrid (Etched w/ SE blade)
Lum
LadyBug

Current EDC:
Small Sebenza, and Ladybug.

Off work EDC:
Small Sebenza, Hybrid Cricket and ladybug (Depends on what car I' driving)

well, I for one am downsizing from Millie to Swick
maybe I'm getting old or something... :)

No name chinese slip joints
Old slipjoints inherited
Small SAK - especially when backpacking
Excalbur brand - 440c wood adn brass
Gerber LST micro - FRN and 520 series steel
Spyderco ladybug - FRN VG10 (still playing with it)

Love the Gerber LST micro design - wish it came in VG10 or a good steel

Here in OZ cities knives are a No - so smalll and low key is the way. Besides office and house use does not require a large knife. And I don't want to carry a large knife in my suit trouser anyway.
