What has happened to me?

for me, it all started a few months ago when I bought a Cutco folding knife at the cutco store, thinking I got a good knife, I started researching steel types and knives. found I over paid for 440A but that started the whole thing for me.

hah, its only the beginning. i also see youre from oregon aka knife capital of the united states...
youre screwed, welcome to bladeforums :)

Hey, it could be worse.

At least you haven't been afflicted with a craving for high-end golf clubs and the other accessories of that habit.

(Of course, you're a lot less likely to cut yourself sharpening a golf club, or "slicing" the ball into the rough.)

:D

If you can afford this hobby, do it!
I got myself in a bad spot but got out. Be careful...

Well they are useful unlike many collecting hobbies, and they are cheaper than firearms..... Which also require ammo, which costs too...

I just got my other half interested so she gets her own knives too. :D

I’m not sure about being cheaper than firearms. Mine damn near run neck and neck in the spending pool. The trading line worked for awhile until my wife started complaining I spent to much time looking for trades on the forums lol :) There’s much worse habits to have and if worse comes to worse as long as you buy smart you can always turn a knife around without much loss.

For most of us it brings a very large amount of enjoyment.

Rolf with too many knives?! Is nothing sacred? ;)

Welcome, Maprik, and enjoy your new hobby, again and again and again...

Oh man...now I am obsessing over the ZT 560....

Thanks for all the encouraging comments. The more I read the more normal I feel.

APF- lol! I sold a lot of knives at our local knife show. I'm in a holding pattern. That's better than the divorce pattern!

seriously man, if you're looking for a cure for that addiction, go to texas fishing forum, all we have here is better versions of the crack that got you hooked in the first place

when i got my account here, i had 4 knives total, now i have about 30 and more are in the mail

whatever you do, stay out of the custom makers section... i might end up divorced because of that section.

Be careful. If you submit to your urges that small collection of knives could easily become 100s of knives before long. :p

Yes, I can certainly see that. On my watch list is the ZT 560 because I don't really have a BIG folder... Just trying to "fill in the gaps".

Welcome to BF. The only cure is more knives. ;) Benchmade and Kershaw are both in Oregon.

You need to start planning to attend the annual Kershaw/ZT Warehouse sale this December. That'll help with the "cure".:D

Ah...December...so far away!!! Well, gives me time to pay off my other bills so I can be in the black before buying the ZT 560... and so now I have to stop almost pulling the trigger.

. . . And . . .

. . . Gerber . . . and

. . . Leatherman.

All in Oregon.

And Buck Knives is only a day's drive away from you in Idaho.

Good luck with your cure.

No need to stop buying until December. Where's the fun in that? :D

Here's their flyer for last year's sale to give you an idea about what its like. (Courtesy of ZT's Facebook page)

BTW: Chris Reeve is in Boise. If you visit Buck you might as well make catch CRK on your way there or back.
