what has your addiction cost you?

Way too much.
This includes buying them, trading them, trading them in at the local knife store for 50% of what they sell it for just so I can trade them all in and get a new knife.
That last one costs because I only get half of what they'll get. But I always end up with something awesome, so in the end I'm pretty happy.
Shipping for 40+ trades has also taken a chunk.
And then of course there is the cash I've spent on actually buying knives straight from the dealer/store.

Yepp... Way too much money. But trading has also stopped me from spending so much on knives. I just spend for the shipping and have a new knife in my mail box in a few days.

Two thousand dollars (local currency) spent on folders over the past 6 years, many hours of reading Bladeforums, knife magazines, drooling and obsession over the knives I wanted.

Thankfully, my "addiction" is not as bad as some hardcore BF members. I am taking this slowly and buying within my means, needs and preferences, it is a marathon for me not like a sprint.

I've only been at it for three weeks... from my first millie purchase... I'm up to ten blades and over $1k out of pocket. My PayPal accts never seen this level of activity. If this pace keeps up I should be bankrupt by December!!! Knives are a powerful drug.

Very scary to think about it truthfully, someone asked in another forum about which knives we have purchased just in the past month. For me looking back at that it would be close to a grand, beyond that I don't wanna' go there! It would be a little shocking to quantify it..

Been eating a lot of Top Ramen lately...

1,000 bucks in the past month and a half? I dont really want to know how much I spent so far this year or last.. It would probably make me sick to my stomach :barf:

Guns and knives have costed me quite a bit. A little over $5,000 in knives within the past 6 months and Im only 21. Im scared to see what it'll look like a few years from now.

Thank god I make a good amount of green.

Not that much to be honest. I have a sStrider SnG and buck vantage and a couple fixed blades. The strider I bought because I sold some things and used the profit I made. I just can't justify buying tons of knives when I won't use that many and I love the SnG.

I usually trade or sell and buy things so I'm not putting much money into it. I've had XM-18's, sebenzas, umnumzaan, and Striders. I've never straight up paid for one though. All were trades or like my current one bought with selling stuff at a profit. Because of the high end knives I've had the normal stuff just doesn't call to me all that much.

I certainly could do a better job of tracking, but even a cursory inventory puts me at between 10-15K over the last couple years alone ...

When you look at that number all at once it seems absurd. But it adds up quick.

I have definitely slowed down and become more selective, and now when I see a knife I really want, I try to sell off others to fund it - trying to grasp at some semblance of sanity here.

I've spent about $2,500 over the past 3 years. I don't budget specifically for knives. I have a "play" budget that covers knives and other miscellaneous purchases. I believe in saving for disaster and retirement, i.e. a 6-month emergency savings account and maxing out retirement vehicles like the Roth and 401(K). Then bills. Whatever is left over is for hobbies.

Adding it all up to January it comes to $3,400.and change, but I also got a new pack and trail gear. I almost would have spent that much on tobacco.

Mmmm.... about 5 or 6 hundred? I accumulated more than that at one point, but I soon realized I had no use for them and sold them. Now, all but 2 are used for specific purposes. Since many of the ones I sold off were LNIB or very close, I got close to full price for them, luckily.
