Being a geezer, I can't remember all the things I learned on here. Probably think I discovered them myself. 
Two things do stick out, though - the fire straw courtesy of Longbow(?) (I apologize if I screwed that up, I think it was Longbow, though) and the Arapuca bird trap courtesy of Pict. I have used both techniques, successfully. That's one thing about primitive skills/wilderness survival - you can read about, and then put it to the test and see if you can actually make it work.
And I guess the other thing I've learned is what a great bunch of people are here. I belong to other forums, but spend just about all of my time here, not to denigrate the other forums, though. They're all good.
