What have you most recently used your knife for?

Today's carry : cut my sandwich and an orange. Tomorrow, figure I'll be carrying something big to hack down a Christmas tree, probably my Condor 15.

I cut the twine holding the Christmas tree to the roof rack on my wife's Frontier with my Shiro 111 M390.

I used to traipse all over my Vermont woodlot to find a tree, but it was a lot of searching to find a tree that looked ten times better in the woods than it did when I got it home. We still get our Christmas trees in up Vermont, but they come from NH or Maine and we buy 'em.

Mine came from China in a box.

I have used various knives recently to cut the packing tape on boxes, to cut shrink-wrap on cases of canned cat food, to cut the plastic rings that hold 8-packs of soft drinks into two 4-packs, cut open letters, cut up vegetables for use in salads (kitchen knives), cut open cellophane wrappings on a box of holiday candy, and cut down cardboard boxes into smaller flat pieces for disposal.

You know - normal stuff that you need knives for. Kinda like asking what I use a screwdriver for - turning screws?

Winchester Coffin Jack to open first a bag of kitty litter then a bag of road salt!!!! John

Very cold here with snow and ice. I used my El Patron to stab through the ice in the drinking troft/barrel for our mules, break up the ice and shoveled the ice out with the knife. Worked very well! Also used my 3V slimline machete to break up some fallen trees that fell in the storms.

Food, TBH

Razors work better in my experience, but hey, don't say I didn't warn you when your client is complaining about ugly gaps!

I used my knife to shave slivers off of a 2x4 to fix some ill-fitted cabinet hardware.

Actually did use a razor. Still counts as a knife, right?

I used my knife to cut my steak at dinner last night. In fact, I tend to use my knife whenever we go out to eat because the knives put on the table at most restaurants (even high end ones) are dull crap. I don't feel like playing a fiddle, I just want to eat.

Other than that, cut some string while wrapping a Christmas gift.

Open Christmas shipment boxes, zip ties used to store last years Christmas lights so I can put them up today and a clamshell for a new timer on said Christmas lights. Oh and two Christmas card envelopes. Hard use today

I use one of my folders to open the box of a freshly arrived folder, kind of a self imposed tradition...... My usage patterns don't change from days, to weeks, to months,.... but years. I go fallow or active primarily dependent upon opposing interests/hobbies and free time. But it is a rare day, a very rare day that I don't have at least a SAK on me. I'd rather have it and not use it, than need it and not have it, which tends to happen at inconvenient times.

I use a small CRK micarta insingo to cut the nicorret gum open. Expensive gum opener.

I used my Beer Scout to open one of those way over engineered plastic packs that batteries come in. Is that kind of packaging really necessary? Next thing you know they'll be welding AA & AAA batteries inside ammo cans.
