What I want: Back Lock Millie

I do not think I will be alone in this, but I want, I dream, of a Military with a good, strong back lock. I want the exact knife, blade, handle, and all, except I want a back lock that is uber strong. Liner locks do not float my boat in a knife that might get used hard. I love everything about the Millie except the lock, which I tolerate, with gritted teeth. The Millie is my favorite large knife and if it had a back lock it might be the only one I owned (not really, but you all get the drift).

Anyone else feel that way?

How about a compression lock like the Para Military?
I would buy a Military with a back lock.

You got me thinking, backlock would be a good idea. How about a military 2. The military design, blade shape and handle shape, except with a 3.75 inch blade and tip up or down carry.

Sal has referred to the upcoming Police4 as "a back lock Military". Personally, I love the Military just the way it is.

I feel that way about all liner locks, bro. There are lots of models I would have if they were back locks - probably saves me a lot of money, though. I don't trust liner /frame locks.

Police 4 for a very close analog. Sal even said he made the P4's blade more like the Military.

How about a powerlock Millie? Oh yeah!!

I'm nor that into the Militarys history, but as the original was supposed to be lightweight, easy to clean and a simple design, I think the comp lock would be perfect! But since I'm waiting for my last purchase to arrive, 2 spydies, I'm almost happy it doesn't excist (yet)!

I'd be down. I love a good back lock and the Military is about as proven a design as it gets. That said, the new Police 4 is gonna be close and my dear fiancée has already preordered me one, so I can wait on that itch to get scratched.

I don't trust ANY lock, and it is my personal opinion that anyone who does is a fool. I treat any folding knife as if it were a slip joint, so what kind of lock it has doesn't matter much to me. I find the comp lock annoying enough to avoid to some extent, although I do have a few.

I find it hard to comprehend how Spyderco even accomplishes to make the models and variations they're making now. We ask for a awful lot.:) I'd say they deliver & try to meet our many requests pretty well, @ some point with too much variety and quantity, product quality will suffer across the board if they take on too much.

I'm fully confident in the liner lock on my Millie. The back lock would just make it heavier, so I'll pass.

I tend to think more along the lines of Yablanowitz though. I'd prefer to keep stress focused on the stop pin rather than the lock. Very rarely do I undertake a task that involves any pressure on the spine.

The Military has been my EDC for about 2 solid years now and has never let me down. If they made a back lock version I would buy it, but I see no reason for them to make one. Now I would buy the heck out of back lock Para 2!

That being said... I dont discount your dream of a back lock military! Not sure why there were some seemingly mean responses.

If your referring to my response - being mean is not my intention.:) I put my 2 cents in - in many-a Spyderco request thread. Many knives I'd like see produced.

Skwurll

I wasnt calling you out. Sorry if it came across that way. Im the first to admit I want a crazy sprint of the millie.

I like backlocks and I like the millie, so...

I think I will have to get the upcoming police 4. That looks like a great large folder using the backlock so it should be right up my alley. Plus it is in a high performance steel that I have not used yet. Yeah, I'm sure I'll "need" one.

yep backlock millie with lc200n steel. now its a salt and perfect.

until then police 4 is on my list. k390 isnt even close to corrosion resistant but i like my mule and can live with it

Millie in LC200N for me please Sal. Back lock would be good but the liner lock on the Millie is still a very well implemented one (this is coming from an OCD tri-ad lock lover) I've put the Millie's liner lock through it's paces and it's much more planted than others. New Police 4 is a no-buy for me, i just have no time for steels that are that poor in the corrosion dept. There are more than enough steels to use that hold a fantastic edge that wont rust if you look at them sideways. Personal preference.
