There are way too many variables to determine what knife would be the best....

What kind of vegetation is on the island....
Thick triple-canopy jungle or dense forest?
Sea grass and thorn bushes?
Palm trees?
Cacti and shrubs?
Barren rock?

What type of animals are on the island....
Large man-eaters (big cats, bears, pack animals, etc...)?
Large game?
Small game?
No game?
Just bugs, birds, and reptiles?

What is the climate of the island....
Tropical?
Temperate?
Frozen hell?
Rainy?
Windswept?
Stormy?
Dry?
Swampy?

Lots of variables for sure.

Regardless, the one that I would be sure to have is probably this one....

hey, based on its size and dimensions and feel, etc., I think I'd be fine with my Cold Steel Master Hunter...I mean, no matter how many survival shows I watch I'm probably still dead in 3 days.

i was thinking, if you get stuck on a deserted island, you can only take one item with you.
after the abvious things (a ship that will take me home, radio transmiter etc.), the best next thing will propably be a knife, some thing you can use for building, hunting and staff- but whice knife will it be?

"The best thing" would be a loaded gun. (preferably my Mini 14) The "next" best thing (if I could bring it) would be a good knife. Based on your criteria of "building, hunting, staff (?)" ... Something like my CS Recon Scout. Take down a small forest with that puppy.

What kills me though about all these new Survival Shows, is that they show up with a good knife, rope, muliti tool, etc. etc.

What if you were REALLY stranded like Tom Hanks in "Castaway" ? Absent
an iceskate for a Fedex package, what would you do ? Best be good at flint knapping eh ? Not as easy as it looks either. Been messing with it lately.

Give thanks for indoor plumbing and and the supermarket. (LOL)

Same here. Thin enough to filet fish if needed but not likely to break for any reason. Not to long, not to short. Won't rust to easy. Chop, slash, pry, defend yourself from who knows what. The BWM is the ultimate stranded desert Isle knife IMO. :thumbup:

To answer your first question, I would bring with me the world's best boat builder. Then I'd get the hell off the island.

If the game was rigged and I had to bring a knife, I guess I'd bring a Stockwell machete and get to work at building me a boat.
