What I'm working on

Its currently 21in blade, 31in overall, but I may shorten it a bit. Handles will be terotuf.
Please keep it at that length if possible! The 21" length seems to stand out from the rest of other waki designs. If anything, we could use a "Tyrant" version with sizes similar to that old 36in Bush Sword design, but in waki style. 😆

The EDC looks awesome! Can't wait to see in use videos!!

Were you able to cut out blanks for the Kukri and Bush Waki yet? Will the Bush Waki have the same HRC as your other knives or will it be at a lower HRC?

We haven't made any progress on either yet. Focusing on getting the Tyrant bowie blanks completed but those will be next up! I'm really excited for them.

And We will run them at 61RC. Z Tuff is plenty durable there.

Took me awhile but I finally got the new TGM machetes done. .085in thick Z Tuff. TGM Air MAX on top and the TGM Mini Air on the bottom. Both of these absolutely slap but the Mini Air is really something special. It only weight 16.7 ounces. For a 20 inch long knife, that has to be some kind of a record.

I won't be able to make the Air MAX model again because they cost too much to heat treat and blanchard grind, but I think the Mini Air will stick around.

Im finishing out all the Tyrant bowies, getting a run of hand ground Boning and Kitchen knives set up, and we have the Fell Chef, Fjord Hiker, and a model called the Super 8 up next on the docket.

I love the smell of new blades in the morning!
(It's morning now for me)

Will the TGMMA be available here on BF or on your site or both?
*Edit: I went to the sale forum and answered my own question lol. I'll take one!

Looking good, Hunter.

Can you tell us a bit more about the TGMAM? I.e. weight, where the balance point is? How much flex is there in the blade? Does it flex under it's own weight - i.e. if you hold it horizontally, does the tip start to bend down? When you’re swinging it, does the blade feel relatively stiff, or does it flex in the air? Will it penetrate (soft-ish materials) on a stab, or is there too much flex in the blade?

I think I need to make a video of one in action. Weight is just over 20 ounces. Balance point is about 6 inches infront of the scales. It does not flex under its own weight and does not really flex in the air either. Its rigid enough to use the tip for strong stabs into hard material. I really wish I could make these again because the Air MAX is freaking awesome. I've kept one for myself and its going to be my go to blade for when I'm out on the farm.

In my humble opinion (and just from eyeballing it), the TGMMA looks like an ideal compact machete - something that will efficiently do everything you'd want a big knife to do in the boonies, except chopping into thick hardwoods. Actual grass machetes (i.e. the kinds of things you see guys in overalls and gum boots slashing with in Malawi) are much longer, and often have a 60 deg bend in the last 8-10" of blade, because they're designed to be used like a scythe, sweeping back and forth and cutting close to the ground, whilst standing up.

The TGMAM is obviously not designed for purely utilitarian purposes, but it looks a lot of fun - the kind of fun I like. I was asking about the flex, because if there's too much of, it will compromise the ability to make precise cuts and to stab. But it sounds like it will be good. Presumably the high HRC will give it more stiffness than a lot of blades so thin and long.

Dont make me design a real, recurved scythe/ sickle blade next....

I'll ask you to make just a curved bush waki!
So that I could knock down a tree with one blow and not even leave a stump!:cool::cool:
What do you say Mister, let's do this?
And then, after success with the curved wakizashi, I will ask you to make a curved tyrant, then a machete, and then even a saber, only with a reverse bend, something like a kukri :p

Hey mr.Hunter!
I want to ask about FELL 14 and The Matriarch
Do you have a little spoiler about what kind of blades these will be?
For example, even a hint :)

M Moorik info on the Matriarch is on the Questions thread below.

Fell 14 is new, along with the Super 8, and I'd love to know more about them too!

Whatever happened to the new EDC design? Is it the same as the "Fjord Hiker"?

Here's what I'm cooking with.

Up next is the Fell Chef, which will be followed by the Super 8, Fjord Hiker, and the Fell 14. I'm also going to do a run of my first Chef Knife and the Mega Boner, but they will be fully hand ground.

Here's what we got top to bottom.

Fell 14- This is the next evolution of the Fell Beast. Its a monster, monster blade that is lighter and easier to carry than the Fell Beast Legacy Prime. Main feedback I got on the Legacy Prime was that everyone loved it but it was too big. So I've taken off 4 inches of blade length and given it a really functional versatile design. I've always been a fan of tall, thin blades. This one fits the bill. If you are comfortable with big blades, this might be the best one I've made yet. It will be light enough to take with you on long hikes and camping trips, its thin and fast enough to clear brush, can chop, and will excel at food prep. Sturdy enough to baton and withstand hard use. Kind of the big brother to the upcoming Fell Chef which will have 10in blade and 11in of cutting edge.

Super 8- This is my take on a mid sized do it all field knife that can also chop. I actually designed this knife all the way back in 2017 as a way to use all the wasted steel from the Kukri run ( they nest poorly on the water jet). I've since refined it to use thinner stock and I've improved the handle design to be better for fine work.

Fjord Hiker- This model has been around forever and is super well received so I'm trying not to change anything. Its been a winner since day 1.

Professional Chef: My first stab at a real chef knife. These will be hand ground. I might reduce the blade size to 8in. You guys know I love big blades though.....

As for the Matriarch, its slowly evolving into a calvary saber, so I think I'm actually just going to do that instead. Right now its somewhere between a big knife, a machete, and a sword, I might as well just turn it into a real sword at this point. So I'll be scrapping this design and making a legit, full blown calvary saber.

For the EDC, I'm going to rework it and use thicker stock so it can be production made. Right now they are hand ground. I really like the blade shape and the handle is perfect, I'll look at doing a run of the EDC as well.

Any update on the timeline for the kukri, and whether you've decided to keep it full length or shorten it? I believe CPK is launching a pre-order for their long-awaited kukri model later today, and it would be helpful to be able to compare the planned offerings.

[PS - My suggestion would be to keep the full 14" blade length, to differentiate it from the competition, including the 12" Cold Steel kukri, but you have to see how the prototype feels in the hand as well.]

Super 8 and Fjord Hiker in your Z-Tuff steel.
this what i want!

I'd LOVE to make the Kukri. Heck I'd get started on it tomorrow, but I don't think there's enough demand. Its an expensive blade and with Carother's launching his Kurki I think most people's budgets will be wiped out for awhile.

However, this is a much different blade than any Kukri released by top makers recently, so it does offer something unique for customers.

I'm most likely going to do drop an inch from the blade to make it feel less like a Kopis and improve balance.
