What is a "Gentleman's Knife" to you?

I think my Small 21 can pass for a gents knife. The Mnandi or Umfaan are obviously better. On the larger side of the spectrum I have heard people call the BM 940 a gents knife.

Should we engrave the bolster Ken? Wait no bolster. Need a whole side of dead cow to sheath that thing.

That appears to be a knife designed for kings, isn't it? Like Louis XVl and Marie Antoinette. lol
Probably not something I'm going to lose my head over.

Doesnt every Gentleman need a Abattior Carcass Splitter at least once in their lives ?

Now that's funny Dan! Ya gonna have to come and hang someday at the shop. I've got 70 on the workbench right now I'm working on the handles on and another 64 on the other bench just back from heat treat. That'll keep me busy for a while.

How many know what an abattoir is Ken? I didn't when I lived across the water and had initials after my name.

I may very well take you up on that, time permitting. Might bring my son along. He has an unfortunate penchant towards folding knives of the tactical variety. Need to broaden his spheres of influence. Boy has never owned a fixed blade. lol

Monty Python is only a waste if it pulls ya away from Fawlty Towers!

My son is the same but more towards the Case/Moore Mker/Hen and Rooster etc Trapper side of things.

To me it has to be some kind of two handed opener. A tratitional. A GEC, Case, Queen, Opinel, SAK etc.

No Spyderco, BM, CRK's(even a mnandi) are qualified.

I know what it is because I worked in one for about two years a long time ago .
All I ever gained from it was muscles and a greater appreciation than most of where your tucker comes from .
I have some fond memories and meet some great characters , but I'm glad my "Knocking" days are over .

What's gentlemanly is relative to the outfit or person really. It depends on what you can pull off. A larger stature calmer person could certainly pull off a Para 2 range knife in a suit. Whereas a same person of immature erratic nature will catch stares and judgement. I've had idiotic peers draw judgement upon me because they wave a knife around like an arse once while nobody noticed that I had one for a week.

Am wondering if you're around the first weekend in November? How many you still working on?

My idea of a classy folder when in a suit.

I think SanRenMu discontinued this variant already; the only remaining variants available are the ones with a gold trim or rainbow trim around the perimeter of the handle
