What is a good scandi grind bushcraft knife?

Bensbackwoods.com has a good selection of scandinavian knives, good prices and a great guy to deal with.

As far as repeats go, sure this is a question asked on an almost weekly basis, but if anyone has a problem with it they can simply not click on the thread. There's plenty of threads that dont interest me, so I just avoid them, no sense in taking my time to complain about it to those who are actually interested.

I couldn't agree more. I've always felt that on forums in general "do a search" is a rather unhelpful response. I've seen a number of good threads on this topic, but topics like this with no clear "right" answer don't really go bad. People get bored of them, sure... so just don't click on them! Also, a lot of the time when the same subject keeps coming up over and over again... That's a hint that something should be stickied.

I know you said you don't want a Mora, but is there a specific reason why? They might be inexpensive, but they are good knives, and well worth the whopping $10 to try out a scandi grind. Even if you have more expensive knives, there's always a place IMO for a thin stock blade with an acute edge angle you can use for fine work, and the fact that they're so cheap makes me a lot more willing to do things like use them as firesteel strikers and get pitch all over them gathering tinder.

Of course, if you're already familiar with the strengths and limitations of the scandi grind, there wouldn't be much point. I'm not one of the zealots who will tell you that Moras are the greatest thing since sliced bread, but they're often overlooked purely due to their pricepoint. My #510 sold me on neck knives, and it's not even really a neck knife.

Otherwise I've been eying the Kellam Tracker and Slasher.

I enjoy using my kellam wolverine. Other than the website not sure where to get them tho. Very comfortable handle to use IMO. Amazingly sharp too:thumbup::)

That's a very nice knife. Too bad it's another custom that requires an indeterminate wait.

Isn't there something like this that I can just order from somewhere?

I just emailed him and I think he is a week out maybe more but he works fast and the money will be right. Try to email him.

There are also several choices from Bark River. The Kephart, Aurora, Nothstar are three that come to mind as ones that might fit the bill. I actually went with the Fox River and a Bravo-1 as two of my bushcraft style knives. The Koster is nice also. I like mine. It is sort of a rough, tough knife you don't mind using.
I realize the Bark Rivers aren't Scandi grind though, but awesome for bushcraft none the less.

Well, people can't exactly do a search, now can they?

Perhaps they should be a sticky topic that lists the vsrious bushcraft knives with a photo.

The search function on this forum does not work so I would expect that others cannot use it either. And some of the ongoing threads are just too long to follow to find ou that it gets off topic several pages into it.
