What is general opinion about CRK " Green Beret " knives?

I think one of the things that people seem to extrapolate by it being associated with the green berrets is that it must then be as tough as nails, maybe its just a really nice gift for you putting in 2 years of suck for the green berret. that is why its given to green berrets not because its the ultimate knife on the face of planet earth. down at swic and a few other places Greyman knives seem to see alot of use, at benning with third bat justins ranger knives and strider brand see alot of use or at least did before camillus took over.

Sometimes i think that the civilian market may be way harsher on a knife htan even us grossly abusive military types. ive destroyed benchmade griptillians but i cant imagine any of use destroying a crk green berret. most people are not going to have to egress thru the windshield of a black hawk, i know alot of people who have done crazy stuff in theatre none of them have had to do that mainly knives are used to boxes of mres, the green berrets are not really out there building grand wooden villages in the woods people, and even if they were the gb knife would be more than adequate. when knives are shown busting up concrete that is worse case scenario its not something a soldier would be doing every day so i dont think any sodier really cares if there knife can cut thru a cinderblock or not, most soldiers would probably look at you funny and wonder why you were using a knife insted of a hooligan tool.

long story short i think that in the end the GB is really a functional work of art. id be proud to take one to a combat zone.

This is complete fiction.

This is the excuse so often invoked by the knife-breaking exhibitionists, who, if we are to believe them, stand as the only bulwark between the hypnotic and hyperbolic marketing of nefarious knifemakers and the poor, unsuspecting buying public. The fact is, however, that there is no knifemaker in the world who advertises his knives as being able to withstand the kind of cinder-block-breaking, blade-hammering nonsense to which these ignorant fools subject blades in the course of their "tests."

I thought we were told by a moderator to discontinue this particular line of discussion.

Also, I thought that insulting other forum members was a violation of the rules which can result in an infraction.

Me too, but it's surely expensive for what you get. There are more than a few custom makers who would build you EXACTLY the knife you want for the price of the GB.

Keep in mind that I'm speaking as a civilian buyer and commenting strictly on cost/value ratio, not on (equally important) sentimental factors. Were I to be awarded one for military service I would no doubt regard it as the most beautiful and valuable knife on the planet!

There's more than one legitimate way to judge the value of a knife. The old Case trapper that was carried by my father and grandfather is probably worth $30 at a flea market, but it's worth way more than even my favorite custom folder to me. I think the people that love their GB's the most probably earned them rather than bought them.

Saying they will compensate you if you break the knife is not the same as saying the knife is indestructible. They are, in fact, simply acknowledging up front that there will be some people who do manage to break the knife, and they are factoring in the cost of replacing those knives as a way of fostering and maintaining brand loyalty.

Over one hundred posts recapitulating previous threads on the same subject. The same trolling and insults as previous threads, the same waste of a moderator's attention span.

See ya next time, guys. This one's getting locked and going into storage.
