They have a skean dhu made of grivory with a kraton handle . Are these knives any good or are the letter openers that would give up the ghost when asked to puncture/cut leather repeatedly ?

They're letter openers. Any real-world use might be as a one-time defensive strike.

sounds like those guys were using it for handles . Cold steel is using it for blades . Anyone have any experience with that ? They are touting it as weatherproof . Its nice that its resistant . I wonder how it behaves as a blade ?

I'd like to get a couple of the daggers they make like that to keep in my shower and a few other places only a silly, paranoid person like me would put a plastic knife.

From the reviews I've read, if you're going to buy a cold steel plastic knife, you should go with the tanto version. Most of the thinner blades like the taipan and particularly the karambit were so flimsy that people bent the tips cutting cardboard. General consensus seems to be that the tanto will survive reasonably well because of its thicker geometry.

Note that you can't exactly sharpen or use these things - I'm told they're completely worthless except as a last-ditch shiv. I suppose you might use it to bluff, though.

Get the original Cold Steel Delta Dart - I have some of the Cold Steel Grivory model and the Delta Dart is by far the stiffest and sharpest (point.)

Thanks guys . With your input it is evident they are eye candy and little more . Like the gentleman said "maybe a last ditch single use Weapon"
To me so is a good sized nail . Lots cheaper too !

I have found that the Delta Dart makes a fine handle for a hot ear of corn. Drive it a couple of inches into the end of the ear and roll the corn around in the butter! :D

A buddy of mine makes em and they have an almost coffee colored enamel look to some of them . I like them because they are functional art . I like the various ways they are spelled and what that might allude to . To be associated with a fine Scotch is a great thing .

I like the idea of them for something to have as "carryon" for flights.

Anyone try getting on past the crack security quad also known as TSA?

Even a blind squirrel has been known to find a nut from time to time. If they catch you, they won't be just giving you a warning.

Dumbest post I have seen in some time.

I know a highly knowledgeable Bladeforums member who works as a TSA screener. Why don't I put him in touch with you?

Plastic knives...are a pretty dumb idea. Give me an extra long screwdriver or wrench. Or a mag light. Or an umbrella.

Jeez.

Synthetic, non-mettalic knives are against the law in most places, and bringing them aboard a commercial flight is highly illegal.
It is people like you who will be the downfall of the honest law abiding knife owner.

My attempt at politeness. :)

I always wondered why ever they made them? Not good for daily chores, dangerous as training tool. So I gathered you guys made them ready for terrorists.

He must be the only one, because I've yet to see one that wasn't either scared of his own shadow or a prick who thinks he's got more power than God.

Sorry for the stupid post... I sometimes forget that in some ways laws against knives are actually stupider than laws against guns.
