  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Relative newcomer, 9Cr18MoV steel, full flat grind, good looking and performing. $15.37 shipped

There are many more that I could have put in, inexpensive quality, from China for sure but U.S.A. makers get a significant amount of their "budget" lines from "offshore" as well. Anyhoo that's not the theme of this thread and has it's own threads already.
I own all these knives, bought with my own money, my choices.

Opinel 9, od2 and a buck vantage small - all free, gifted to me by some great members of the forum!

Having owned/owning a hefty amount of the knives recommended in this thread, I'm amazed the Ontario Utilitac has not been mentioned.

Having gifted the buck vantage small I will definately second the Kershaw OD-2, which cchu518 gifted to me unexpectedly ;)

Still love it, flips like the best and carries like not being there at all! :D

Either my Opinel 8 or 10, or anything in the Spyderco Bryd series. I own the Byrd Robin and it is ridiculously sturdy for around $20.

For pure bang/buck, Cold Steel's Kudu.

For best ergonomics and a four position pocket clip for a low price, Spyderco's Byrd line Cara Cara 2 FRN.

Tough question!! I'm tempted to say my Endura, which has been with me for over 12 years. But for cheap, I'd have to say my Tenacious. Its good enough, takes a good edge, the serrated edge cuts like the dickens, and the G10 gives it a satisfying heft that the Endura just doesn't have. For a fixed blade, I'd have to say my Buck Mentor, which I gifted to a missionary heading off to Ethiopa, to coach sport. It had a tough blade, with a great warranty, and got screamingly sharp, using the SharpMaker.

Kershaw kuro combo blade, $19 at Wal-Mart.

Edited to say that thanks to this thread I discovered Opinel knives and ordered my first #8 carbon. Can't wait for it to arrive. Thanks BF
