The only ones I`ve got are the Gerber A/F Combat model and the Cold Steel Vaquero Grande. From what I have read here, the Sifu and SOG PE II have better locks, and the Sifu has better steel as well.

The Gerber linerlock can be spine whacked and white knuckeled open. It also has the worst steel. You also have to carry it in a sheath, as it has no pocket clip. On the positive side, the opening action is very slick and great fun to play with.

The Vaquero Grande is a lockback, but has decent steel IMHO. Mine has a black pocket clip and sits tip up in the pocket. The blade is 6" long, 1 1/2" longer than the blade of the Gerber. From experience, the Vaquero Grande is the least sheeple friendly of the two.

Both knives have zytel handles.

I`ve never handled a Sifu, but I`ve checked out a SOG Pentagon Elite II in a shop, and I like it better than the two megafolders I have.

An added comment on the SOG PE II. It is a nice light knife to carry.The clip on it is skeletonized and very easily damaged. Other than that, it is a nice piece, and probably the lightest of all mentioned.

How do you define "Best"? (Price is no object? Most Bang for Bucks? etc.). Here's my votes for no. 1:

Price is no obect: DR Madd Maxx

Most Bang for Bucks: Rekat Sifu

toothed budget: CS 5" Gunsite

I want to get a Mad Max, some day whe I can afford one. That is not because I am unhappy with my Sifu, however.

I have the finger-grooved Sifu in D2. I love it! Great balance and grip. Those grooves give me more confidence about hanging onto the thing under stress. I also like the ability to shift my grip down to the bottom of the handle for chopping-type use.
