We ( Missouri ) are one of those "no CCW permit needed" states. We can carry all kinds of knives - just not big OTFs.
I'm from St Louis too, and I for the life of me can't quite interpret what our laws regarding knife carry are now. Autos ("Switchblades") were illegal to own or carry (unless you had a disability like having one arm, and then it had to be under 3"), until 2012. In 2012 they changed the law regarding autos to read that they're only illegal if they violate a Federal Law (one doesn't exist). So basically, after 2012 we could at least own autos legally.
The laws about concealing knives did state that you could only conceal a folding knife with a blade under 4". The law about open carry said you could carry ANY knife.....EXCEPT for "switchblades".
However, when Senate Bill 656 passed in 2016, giving us the right to Concealed Carry without a permit, the language of that bill uses the term weapon, not gun. The only time the word knife comes up in that bill is in regard to when it's a crime to conceal a gun, knife, or other weapon.
So basically, I kind of see a really conflicting set of laws and can't quite make sense of what actually applies now. If you were to read the applicable laws now by the letter it seems like it would now be legal to conceal a switchblade, but not open carry one.
Who knows...
