What is the biggest thickness of a pocket knife you could bring yourself to carry.

We're talkin edc here. What is the thickest you would actually carry in the pocket on a regular basis?

OAL thickness or blade thickness?

For blade thickness, 5/32 inch is the max I'll carry and only if the knife has a distal taper like the Spyderco Military. I'm really digging 3/32 inch thick in the delica though. OAL thickness, the full size griptilian is the thickest I'll carry.

I pocket carry a Leatherman juiced CS4 that's comes in at about .7 inch rivet to rivet and a Spyderco Endura clipped IWB, about .4 inch.

It depends on the day really, more specifically it depends on what I'm wearing. I'm an attorney, and I wear everything from a suit and tie to a jeans and a polo shirt during the week depending on what I have going on that day. I rarely go to court, and if I do I obviously am not really focused on my knife since it can't go into the building anyway, I usually just go with something small and light like my Delica or Manix2 LW. On other days, I usually wear jeans so whatever I feel like carrying that day is what I go with since I clip it on my RFP. I only draw the line with very thick knives like the Utilitac or Tremor, they just get in the way of other things and I'm already carrying my pistol in my IWB holster so I can do without any unnecessary thickness.

I dont consider handle thickness or blade thickness. Not at first anyways. I have got knives and later discovered that i felt it to be too thick. I just sell em and look for another.

The Benchmade 808 is .67 thick according to their website. That's pushing the limit for me when it comes to regular carry. I'm not sure how thick the ZT0200 is; I carry one of them occasionally as well, but not too regularly.

A lot depends on whether the handle is contoured. The .60" thick ZT0550 feels like a brick to me, but the .64" thick Griptillian carries very well.

Do you mean overall thickness + scales? That is my big focus lately. The Delica has really screwed with me. Basically if a knife is thicker than a delica I probably won't keep it long enough to edc. I've gotten rid of a Domino, and a bunch of other knives for that reason. I find that for edc I like slim packages.

EDC'ed a 275 Adamas for years. Tried to carry a Buck CSAR folder, but found the lock wasn't the best for me, and the normal pocket clip was super tight as is. Wouldn't mind carrying a Grayman Satu one of these days....

If a folder grip is thicker than 0.500" or over five ounces, I won't touch it.
I love large Sebbies, Zaans, Southard AVO, Spyderco Slysz Bowie and they are ALL about 0.450" thick. That fits fine in my pocket and in my hand.
There are some thick knives, like the GREAT Benchmade 0275 manual folder, handle thickness 0.730", and I love it, but it's special-duty as far as I am concerned, and NOT for EDC.

I dunno the thickness of my Xm-18 3.5", but that's about as thick as I'd go. My ultra thin Spyderco Stretch carries SO WELL!!!!

.75" is the thickest I want to go. my CRKT Foresight is my thickest in my rotation at the moment, followed by my Boker Dark Hollow.

I had a Chaves 228 once. First knife I ever traded away. The thing looked cool but felt like a brick and cut like one too.

I hear ya. My delica is battling my sak for pocket time.

I normally don't consider the thickness or weight when considering an EDC. I can only think of two examples that stand out, to me, as being too thick to EDC.

Direware and Busse ASH1

Also I would never carry this ridiculous thing.

Thanks for all the input guys :) I like a thin knife myself. And yes, I do mean overall thickness. I have an idea for a design I want to do, and I know that it's going to have to be of some thickness more, than what I believe a lot of people, (including myself) would like it to be. But hopefully not too much. Anyway, I wanted to get some opinions so I could know what my limits were before I sat down to start the actual design. Thanks guys :)
