I agree that the leatherman has become what the 110 was.. the next step in knife evolution.... from sharpened stone to bowie to buck to leatherman to "who knows".
The conversion of our environment is the leading factor... We are no longer chasing our food down and killing it to survive. Now we drive to the store to get our food, and if the car breaks down along the way we fix it with our new "tool"... man uses tools to solve problems... Who knows what tomorrows handy tool will be, maybe a computer related fix-it item... with a laser for cutting... no sharpening required.
