  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What is the Cheapest EDC that you carry?

An "on sale" orange handled K-Bar folder for 6 bucks (ordered 4) and figured one would last at work for maybe a year (probably less) but I am still on the first one (4 years later), go figure ...

case small stockman 3 blades $10 been carrying it for about 4 years on and off. Gotta show the hardware store love.

My Vic farmer, then my Boker Subcom, I bought the farmer online so with shipping included it cost the same as the Subcom.

I have a small CRKT 1st Strike on the way for a sheath I wet formed years ago. More than likely it'll get some belt carry at home.

I just got a Kershaw Oso Sweet for about $30 I really like it for the price. I also carry one of my Victorinox SAK

The lowest cost EDC I usually have at least one on me at all times are:

1.Boker SubClaw or SubCom
2.Vic Farmer(alox)
3.Byrd Firebyrd

All are under $30.The Firebyrd's under $20

I guess I can add the Izula into the mix now at under $50.-

Case Sod Buster Jr. $19.99 at Lowes.

+1 IMHO best bang for the buck:thumbup:

Guess my 'cheapest' is this 1982 Queen 9105 Jack.
I bought one Queen knife and he let me pick out a free clunker.
This one was missing the shield and has a few blade scratches.
Queen Cutlery glad to send me a new shield. A little oil and
resharpened it's ready to go.

I picked up a CRKT Mirage on closeout at a local store for $12.95. They got the grind and heat treat right on the AUS6 steel and the 3 inch blade is adequate for my EDC needs. I carry it often.

I'm also fond of carrying my Vic Alox Bantam. The blade is long enough for my lunch needs and after work or on weekends the bottle opener alone has justified the $24 shipped price.

When they were on sale on Amazon I picked up backups for my SAK Soldier and SAK Farmer for $15 each. On outdoor weekends they see regular use. Recently, while camping, I put the SAK Farmer to emergency use. We had a nice red wine to go with our campfire cooked steak kabobs but forgot to bring a cork screw. I used the awl to make a hole in the top of the cork, then used the saw to quarter the cork and shove it inside the bottle and finally used a coffee filter to strain out the cork bits. I was pleased that I had carried the Farmer and saved the day;
my lady friend, a hard core hiker and occasional car camper, had unusual dainty thoughts and was not impressed. Later, when I opened the second bottle, in the dark and with greater speed, she asked to see what I was using as an opener.

Gerber LST Lockback. VERY slim and light. I put mine on a lanyard since it always seems to slide out of my pocket when I sit down (it doesn't come with a pocket clip). Can be 1-hand opened with practice. Takes a pretty sharp edge too. This is the one I carry if I'm doing a drywall sanding job or painting when I'd be concerned about drywall dust and paint spatters getting on one of my "good" knives while pocket-clipped. When it's in the depths of my pocket, I don't have to worry about that.
