What is the holy trinity of knives?

Top 2 are chris reeve and strider. IMO both these companies make top notch gear, they both are so similar and so different at the same time, if you own a few of each you will most likely have all your needs met and won’t look any farther.

Sure I own other knives from other companies in my collection but I’ll tell you ... I can’t remember the last time I reached in my
Pocket and it wasn’t a CRK or Strider I was pulling out... and I’m talking years! ...

I’ve owned microtechs and SOG and other brands ... but out of the 3 microtechs I’ve owned I’ve had a problem with all of them, so it really turned me off the company... same with SOG... had 2 knives from them and both needed to be sent back in to the company...

After about 10 years of carrying striders and CRK never once have I had to sent one back in.... not once... I’m done looking elsewhere I’ve found what I want!

Top 3 best selling brands? I don't know about 2nd or 3rd, but top without a doubt will be Victorinox.

Very rare to see a cutlery shop has so many standalone shops around the world in prime locations, and even non-knife people would know the brand name. And the sheer volume of knives/tools they are making each year probably way surpass 2nd, 3rd or 4th.

Subjective topic, some poeple will say what they have is best just because thats what they own, some people have a wide variety, while others may only have a few. Some people wont ever pay over $50 or $100 or whatever their cut off is.

Owning and trying many knive over the last 40+ years, I stopped having a set price or cutoff price some years ago, I own and carry what I like because I know it`s quality and does what I need it to do. YMMV

My Holy grail for me is what I own/carry.

For me it’s Strider, Emerson, and Medford

Probably the most hated/divisive brands on Bladeforums but those are the top in my opinion. I’ve carried and used both Striders and Emersons very hard while at work and I’ve never had an issue with any of the production or full custom ones when it comes to performance. I haven’t owned or carried many Medfords but my initial impressions of the few I have is that they are made exceedingly well. Very tight tolerances, smooth actions, and excellent fit and finish.

And despite how many BF people will disagree, I respect each of the makers to the fullest (yes, even Mick). Mick has personally taken money out of his pocket to help one of my best friends and fellow firefighters in his time of need. I’ve had a good conversation with Ernest Emerson and I respect his morals, ideals, and his knife making skill. I’ve only met Greg once but we had a good conversation as well. He stands behind his product and legitimately wants to make the best knives on the market.

Again, you may disagree and that’s fine. You don’t have to like what I like, that’s the beauty of the internet. But in my mind these makers are the “holy trinity” without question.

For me it's Hinderer, CRK, and Spyderco. Of course that is really just a representation of my rotation.

As others have suggested, can pick trinity’s within several price ranges.

if you look up trinity of watches, all are out of my price range and nothing I would care to daily wear anyway.

Very subjective but a thought provoking question. Lots of quality brands and choices exist these days.

Sharp by Design
Liong Mah
Something Obscene Company

all Reate made.

Trinity because the three share their material nature. They are all one yet three distinct persons.

Spyderco
CRK
Rockstead

Spyderco has been introducing new models and collaborations. Sprint runs and exclusives. They usually have a higher quality heat treat for production steel.

CRK has incredible tolerances and makes a limited selection of excellent knives

Rockstead has incredible tolerances, great heat treatment and those blades are something. Many a custom maker carries a Rockstead.
