What is the LEAST you'll pay for a knife?

I've gotten a few pretty nice knives for $0.25 (25 cents) at estate sales. A couple of them are old, German slipjoints that are over 100 years old.:cool:

I have no minimum, I'd prefer to pay as little as possible. I wish they all cost $0.25. Of course, if they did, my house would probably sink into the ground from the weight of all of the steel.

The Buck 110 'Collector's Tins' at Wally World were to sell for $30-$35 at Christmas '06 & '07. I found the '06s afterwards for $13 at one store - $11 at another. I found one 1/08 left at a store - sealed - $8. My cheapest ever knife purchase - and a gift for my son's birthday later that month.

The box, sheath, and the '06's keychain were made 'elsewhere', but the knife is still made in Idaho. A steal at the current WallyWorld $27 price, a gift for less. I have a bunch of 110s of one type or another.

If you're talking about what is the least level of quality you'd expect for a given price, I think that there is good value in $35 dollar price level.

The most expensive knive I own is $87 bucks. Guess my taste in knives is more beer than champagne.

Mora, Opinel,S&W and Box cutters. Most of my cheaper knives were under 10.00 Many are pretty old and still going strong.

I have a few Case knives that cost about $30 and they are fine users. I don't go out of my way to get the cheapest I can find. I am into quality. That said I won't go to Spyderco's or Benchmade's Chinese models regardless of the bargain that they seem to be or how well they are made.

I have no price bottom because every once in awhile something amazing comes along for stupid-cheap. The Byrds are astounding for their price. The Cold Steel Canadian Belt Knife is not only cheap but as my EDC it takes a real beating. Some really good knives aren't beautiful but are very utilitarian.

I paid $6 for a Tram bolo, $11 for a Wenger SAK and $8 for an Opinel. I guess you might find a better deal than that.

Free also. My grandpa's worked at a Hardware store for 60+ years and has gifted me with a few Case knives over the years. Unfortunately they're not my cup of tea.

The $10 Vic Classic pictured here on my keychain, oh yeah that Gerber Artifact is around $10 too.

I got a Victorinox Bantam (Alox) for $15.95
Those things sure are sweet little knives for the price.

I have an Opinel but mostly I don't spend much time looking at stuff under $40, maybe I am missing out but life is short. Here is my new, for $45 I got a mint SOG Magnadot PE [rare and discontinued] at a gunshow and I almost didn't even check it out because of it's price but I am dam glad I did. I see stuff for $20 or $30 I just don't pay much attention, ....when I started getting serious about knives at the very beginning I bought a buncha 10 - 20 dollar knives which are now in a storage bin and do not see the light of day. Steel snob? not really, but if someone would call me that then fine.

I have a $27 CRKT that has taken an astonishing amount of use and abuse over the past several years. I lost one too many a more expensive folder and decided what the Hell on the CR...I've been pleasantly surprised really.

That said - I doubt I'd bother with anything below that price.

The cheapest knives I've got are my Mora knives and Opinels, they work fine for me and these are all below 10 euros. For me there is no lower limit.

I think with a lot of knives being super high value, the numbers may be a tad low. Take the Victorinox farmer at $25 or a kershaw skyline at $35 for example. That said, the least I would spend on a knife is $15 since that's how much decent SAKs cost :D

I have a few Bokers and Rough Riders that I paid between $7-$9 each, to my door. I would have paid less if I could.
I don't expect much for less than $10, so it is really hard to be disappointed with the cheapo knives.
