Just got a Rough Rider Congress smooth bone for $4....$8 shipped to the EU. Cheapest I have so far. Very nice nevertheless. No minimum really. If I want it and it's cheap...that's only a plus.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is available! Price is $250 ea (shipped within CONUS).

I would happily pay as little as nothing or even less for a knife but I think the
least expensive knives I have are SAKs or the Spyderco ladybugs/jesters.
Because you generally get what you pay for?Why would anyone have a minimum that they would spend on a knife?
Inexpensive doesn't necessarily make it a bargain but it doesn't exclude an inexpensive knife from being a bargain either either.Because you generally get what you pay for?
Now, I don't have a "hard floor" on what I will pay for a knife, but when the price gets below around $40-45 I certainly start to get cautious. I'd rather pay $80 for a good knife that will probably outlast me, than $30 for a cheap POS that I would probably end up throwing out after a couple uses.
IMO just becuase a knife is inexpensive does not neccessarily make it a bargain.![]()
I would rather spend 25 dollars on a good knife that I know I will use than 80 on a knife I would be hesitant to. I have had the same Ka-Bar folder and have used it for duty carry for two years-it has held up to the salty air and water of the Florida coast, the loose dust of midwest Texas, the cold dirty snow of Wisconsin and now Idaho. It holds its edge as good as any 80 dollar knife I own. Best part is, I can go through 3 of them before I reach the cost of an 80 dollar knife. And I have ABUSED my knife. Get as cautious as you want but most of you guys that insist on spending 50 dollars minimum on a knife rarely ever use them outside of opening letters anyway.Because you generally get what you pay for?

Lets you take any folding knife in existence going for $25 or less, I will take a ZT 300.
And let's do some tests mkay?
First test, resistance to rubber, we will run each knife over with the same car.
Knives must be in the open position. I will pick up the ZT and will have a knife,
you will pick up a pile of parts.
You're on, and it will be a Ford Expedition going 25 mph.
Next test: lever, I will pry a 900 lb truck engine and so will you.
I will have a knife, you will have a much shorter knife.
We are trying to prove cheap knives do not survive.
