So, My most Expensive knife I ever purchased was a Rockstead Shin DLC Stingray.

It is an Amazingly beautiful work of artisan craftsmanship and the feel of it in hand is out-of-this-world.

So, yes, I paid way to much for it.

But I am happy with it.

How about your experiences with paying top dollar for some knife you really, really wanted?

Ah I want to try a rockstead soon, i hear nothing but good things about it from people who actually own one.

mine would be my 2 busse nmfbm's. I'd be satisfied if it came with a better edge.

I can't justify spending more than $400-500 on a knife considering that is getting into gun territory. So the most I have spent is $500.

Your 'top dollar' may not be my 'top dollar' which may not be another's.

I'd never spend over $200 for any knife. There are too many excellent choices for much less.

I've spent as much as $150 for some 'safe queens'. They're all worth more than that now. ;)

I'm most satisfied with my $100 users - Spyderco Delica ZDP, Native S90V, Manix2 S110V.

A sword in Toledo, Spain. I wasn't satisfied because I never got to use it.

Honestly I have a hard time answer this. Technically a RW Loveless I owned was worth the most but I traded for it, and the traded item cost me $400... So hard to say.

As far as actual bought with cash it would have be Shirogorov custom hati, it was approximately $1350. Ended up dropping it and bending the tip. Resold to a local collector after reprofiling it with the edge pro. Lost $300 on that.

Worth it? Honestly as far as FF, and craftsmanship. Probably. Yeah. Just not my cup of tea. Couldn't find anything but maybe 2-3 minor flaws. And these were minor minor. Perfect centering, perfect lock up, 0 blade play. smooth as butter. Great flipper design.

ZT Snap On anniversary, it sits in a box in the closet

Same here! Sold it back to my Snap On dealer cause I couldn't bear to use it, and I don't own safe queens. Thinking about buying it back and actually using it this time...why not, right?

I spent $1300 on an Emerson Custom CQC-13 from BladeHQ. I was very satisfied with it and I carried it regularly. I no longer have it because I had to sell it due to my payroll department screwing me over royally. Given the chance and if I had the money, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

Due to the "hype" by lots of good folks, I purchased two XM-18's for approx $725 and $750. I sold them within about two-three weeks for roughly the same price...so I wasn't hurt financially. But it did teach me that one man's fancy is another man's trauma. They are exactly what they purport to be...just not MY cup of tea.

I hear you.

Sometimes you just fall in love with a piece, and it just doesn't matter what it costs, you just have to have it.
I can truly empathize

$2200 for a one off AXD by Darrel Ralph. It was worth it. I used/carried it everyday for 6 months. Sold it on Ebay with no reserve... $780 :(

I am an admitted cheapskate.

The most I've ever paid is $67 for my Tojiro DP 10in gyuto. The next closest in price was actually my Becker bk2 ($62).

Have I been happy with them both so far. The tojiro gets lots of use, and has been nice and different from the other kitchen knives I have had (junk stuff, and then a victorinox fibrox chefs knife and santoku). The edge has held up better, and the extra length is pretty handy for most things.

The Becker has also seen a good amount of use. I would say its lived up to my expectations, and has performed well. I don't use it as much anymore (more of a two knife guy as it turns out). So yeah, I'm happy with it.

And I know these are almost laughably cheap to some, but they are the priciest ones I've bought. I'm not sure if get much more value for my money elsewhere, which is probably why I haven't gone any higher as of yet.

Tojiro is a very good brand. I recommend this brand to all the new chefs I meet, and they seem to love it too.
