what is the most valuable knife you have gifted?

Heres one I made then gave to a very good friend this Christmas..
Its a HHH custom knife. Made with meteorite damascus, forged from a Campo meteorite. So the dark part of the damascus is 1095 High Carbon steel and the shinny parts are 100% meteorite..
The bolsters are a slice from the same meteorite I used to forge the blade. With Ironwood burl and mosaic pins.

I cant really put a value on this piece, But the feeling I got from making this and giving it away was priceless!!! :)

Over at BushcraftUSA there was a guy on there that took a bunch of folks for money and then disappeared. I think he even faked his own death but I digress. It really tore the community up so I did a giveaway with a very special (to me) knife. Since they were a bunch of bushcraft guys I put up my JK Kephart. It really kind of brought everyone back together and at the same time there were a bunch of folks putting up GAW's. Seemed like a good time to give back. I really miss the knife but don't regret the GAW at all.

I had these made for my two little brothers and I for Christmas a few years back. Three custom face small sebenzas. Our last name is Pepper, so the old Dr. Pepper "I'm a Pepper" commercial has always been a theme for my family. :) I was going to get one for my dad too, but buying these three set me back enough, couldn't justify it.

I've given my Dad a lot of knives over the years. I've given him a Busse NMFBM, Busse Game Warden, CRK Sebenza and Strider PT, among others.

Two bladed Bose trapper to my dad. He deserves the best that can be had.

Benchmade AFCK to a friend I worked with, he sent it in to BM the same week to restore the factory edge....still has it.

Save up a bit, and for Father's Day, get Dad one that says: "I'm BOSS Pepper." Yes, he really deserves it and will treasure it.
I'm old enough to know these things.

I gave my best friend a microtech ultratech tanto for his birthday this year. Thats the most expensive gift knife I've given, but have given numerous kershaws and spydercos.

A Fallkniven kitchen knife for my mom. I've given away Canal Street Cutlery trappers here on the forums and IRL as well.

Me and my best friend split buying a supertool 300 and maxpedition sheath for our friend who just got married and joined the marines. We plan on giving it to him when he gets out of boot camp in the next month.

Corwise- I understand being broke- I stay that way. I burried my Dad Nov 26,2011- Ramen + rice taste good and fill you up.

I gave an Edmnd Davidson Whitetail Skinner to a friend.
To my son I have given NWA Hunter, John Ek Bowie & John Greco knives, plus lesser value.
Dad carried a Barlow he bought in 1960, so I gave him and M1....with a bayonet attached! LOL!

"I don't make Merry, myself, during the holidays, and I can't afford to make idle people, Merry."...or something like that. No, seriously, I don't tend to buy expensive knives (none of mine have been over $100, and most are in the $25-$50 range), so when I do buy a knife for someone, it tends to be something like the ones I'm using, and like. Mostly I've gifted Case, Victorinox, and Buck knives

My brother was speechless when I gave him a Spyderco Military CE, custom leather horizontal sheath and a Sharpmaker before he headed back home before Christmas. He's a Deputy Sheriff and carried a Smith and Wesson folder that weighed about a pound but now carries the Millie. I simply reminded him that he wouldn't go cheap when buying a firearm and the same consideration should apply when buying a knife. :D

Most Valuable as in $$$ would be the Straight Handled Battle Mistress, one of Three Hundred I gave to my Youngest adult son.

I have given away Hundreds of knives over the last 50 years and a couple dozen Busse knives in the last 13 years.

Giving people a Good quality knife feels like building a monument one brick(knife) at a time.

Knife Culture, I think we Need to pass it on or we might follow on the path England has taken(as an example)

The idea is not so much the value or cost, but my goal in knife giving is always give a knife that particular person with get excited about, other wise what is the point?

The Three most common knives for me to give away are Camillus Electrician's Folder, Swiss army knife of all kinds and the Shrade Sharp Finger, knives I give to kids.

By paying attention I from time to time find a great deal as long as I will buy all available from some guy at a show who does not look like he want's to be there in the first place.

Find the people who sell the knives confiscated at the airports, the ones I give away the most can usually be had for $5.00 each or less, you just got to get 20 to maybe a hundred of them at a time and then you are set for a while.

I once found a box of the Camillus for $1.00 each and that is what started me giving away pocket knives to lots of kids.

Invest in our Culture, give a kid a quality knife AND Help that child learn to use it safely, to care for and to maintain the knife.
