what is the sharpest FACTORY edge you've seen?

My cold steel Desperado is by far the sharpest knife I (or anyone that saw it when I first got it) have ever handled out of the box. It was so sharp I would see the blood running and wonder where it was coming from. Only then would I realize I was cut. SCARY SHARP!

The sharpest I've ever seen/felt was a Ginsu Drop Point Hunter. Somehow they attached a handle on a damascus razor blade.

Close to it was a Japanese hunting knife I picked up from AG Russell... I'm not sure of the name.

So far my spyderco kiwi has been the scariest sharp out of the box. After releasing the lock, the blade barely touched my finger and gave me a paper thin cut.

Sage 2 and kershaw skyline, no others have ever come close, not even sebenza

Just going through a few knives tonight, and I'll add Benchmade and Cold Steel to the roster.

Without any doubt my new Fällkniven PXL beat all the rest.
None of my Spyders, BM's, ZT's or any other folder came straight out of the box 'this' sharp. Amazing.

I can't find my name in the thread. I do not remember whether I posted here or in another thread on the same topic. So, apologies if this is a repeat.

The sharpest knife OOB was my KaBar Large Dozier. It would push-c ut newspaper 1 inch from the point of hold.

But if I averaged the knives I have bought from various companies, the sharpest would be Spyderco. On average, they provide the sharpest knives OOB.

That being said, I place little weight on the OOB sharpness. Of all the factors that go into producing a knife: sharpness, alloy, ergos, overall fit and finish, the one I can change with the least effort is the sharpness. And the first thing I do when I get a knife is to fuss with the edge, changing it to suit my personal usage requirements.

I'd have to say, sharpest right out of the box was a Lone Wolf Longhorn.

That thing was scary sharp when I opened it up.

Kyle.

I have bought nearly 100 fixed blade knives in the last 4 years. Probably half came sharp enough to shave (all 30+ barkies did). The three that stand out are 1. BRKT Gameskeeper, 2. Brian Andrews Bushcraft, 3. Knives of Alaska D2 Camp knife. In folders a Gerber Gator in 154cm. I have maybe 20 knives that you will not feel cut you. Blood is the first indication. I have given away 4 or 5 Cabelas S30V buck 110 knives. My relatives refer to them as "That Damn Knife" as they have all been cut more than once. My brother in law forbids his wife to every touch his. She cuts herself every time. They are very sharp. Actually I expect my new $200 plus knives to come sharp. A couple have come "unsharpened". I do not mean just dull.
