What is this worth???

First I would ask that you edit out the post and the title. You can always check eBay under completed auctions or searching the exchange here.

There is a dedecated busse sale forum. The obvious way find the knives value is to do some searching there.

That would have worked some years ago, when almost all sellers left the price up. But practically overnight, it it switched and almost all sellers now delete the price.

I hate that.

Exactly! Its becoming more and more difficult to figure old knife values nowadays because of a select few who decided to abuse the system.

The price listed may or may not be the price paid anyway. So, while it might be an indicator, it is not 100%.

Would it be nice to have the price, sure, and even better to get everyone to go back and fill out the agreed on selling price to, but I am not sure how deleting the price is an abuse of the system.

I hate it too. Monkey see monkey do.

No, you misunderstood him. Of course deleting the price is not an abuse of the system. Dwayne was referring to a few abusive sellers who led the switch over to deleting prices, as it was an advantage for them personally.

sorry that I have caused thread drift.

I used to leave prices up and also hated it when people removed prices, but then stumbled upon one of the many threads complaining about it and read that some do it to protect the buyer's privacy. as innocent and inconsequential as it seems at first, I eventually bought that... it seems respectful. is that bad? or a not-good-enough reason?

It's a good enough reason if the buyer requests it, but I doubt they ever do.

Same reason I do it. Yes, it is good enough. I know enough folks here that I just call, write, or do more research for pricing.
