What is this worth???

IMO, the "out of respect for the buyer" reason is mostly BS and used as an excuse for the real reasons it's done - either out of fear as being seen as a non-conformist (peer pressure to delete prices has been discussed before) or it's for the benefit of a select few that don't want their prices being questioned - in other words, they don't want to get an e-mail or PM saying "Hey, I noticed you sold _____ a month ago for $75 less than what your asking in this current listing, why are you asking more now?" Or to state it another way, it interferes with their path to quick profits. I actually have zero problem with selling a knife for more than you bought it - I've done it myself, but just be straight about it.

Funny...The only person that's asked me to remove a price was One Guy and I'm sure it's obvious what his reason was if you remember him. I didn't delete it and I'm blaming him for the new trend.:D

I just think that it is a bad habit that started, and possibly perpetuated among newer forum members as just S.T.O.P. cause they saw someone else do it.

Hopefully, this will start the ball rolling back in the right direction. It hasnt always been this way:thumbup:

I agree that this was likely to be a significant factor; the newbies saw that someone else did it, so they followed suit.

Lot's of good response here, best thread drift ever. Let's hope that we can shift the momentum back the other way.

I think the same guy asked me to delete prices, so I underlined and bolded them. :D

ok, I'm convinced, but I'd still like to ask if the buyer wants it removed first, and if yes, I'll say in the thread that the price will be available if people contact me and ask.

Polish Customs just made a buyer prove that he bought a Busse as cheap as I sold it to him at.
(I once traded a Lean Mean Prototype for $20.00)
Sometimes I'll still sell one at a "Give it a way" price.
If you just do a generic search for a buses many of these old threads come up and Polish Custom gave this guy hell...
He ended up taking copies of his Pay Pal in to them to prove he paid $175.00 and not the $332.00 they found online.. He then had to pay another $175.00 in Taxes.

I predict that the longer the economy stays in the gutter, the smarter the Taxing Units will get.
I know for a fact that Costa Rican Customs uses the internet to price goods coming into the country as there are huge taxes on goods going there.

Chuck, thanks for educating us on the sophistication of the taxman.

I recall that tonyG and I once conspired to create a ridiculously high price on a CS FSH that I sold to him. We were spoofing the stupid high prices that sellers were asking, and getting, back then. Good times, good times.

My concern is that your mailbox will now be flooded with charity requests fom lowball would be buyers. Can I buy a Busse from you for $175?
