What is your 2015 knife future?

What do you think 2015 might have in store for you and this passion (obsession) for traditional knives that all of us here seem to exhibit?

For myself I'm going to try to sell some knives to have some cash for a couple of spring knife shows. I be looking for that special Bulldog or Carl Schlieper German Eye that I can't live without. I'll also be watching for what GEC releases, including any SFO's. I can't say I'll be looking for any particular pattern, I'll know it when I see it, but a big Wharncliffe blade will definitely pique my interest. Maybe a Northwoods is a possibility, depending on available funds.
And who knows, maybe I'll actually make my first purchase of a Case knife.

So gaze into the crystal ball or flip those Tarot cards and tell us what you see.

I have been thinking about this the last few days. My tastes change but not drastically lately. I want to spread out my rotation a bit and give myself a little more diversity in size/bladeshapes/patterns. I would like to branch out and buy some new brands. But the biggest change I foresee for me and traditinals is giving stag an honest try this year. I cant get over some of the pics of users I have seen lately, how well the stag ages. Its about time I really pocket one, just need to find the ones that are skinny ;)

I am looking forward to trying to get in early on a TC Barlow SFO.

Jeff, since your so close will you be going to the Arkansas Knife makers show next month? There are some great traditional knives there.

I will be reducing my inventory over the next few months. I see knives here all the time that I really like, but can no longer afford, so I will sell some of the ones that I don't use so as to be able to buy one once in a while that really strikes me.

I have a few on their way that I plan to use for whittling, a couple NF Barlows reserved, and may grab a 38 haven't decided.
Other than that, it depends on what is being produced. If GEC comes out with a new 15 long pull, a 73 in a scale I like, or if they resurrect the 62 Courthouse whittler, I'll probably grab those.
I do plan on being a lot more selective and focusing more on older pieces. I've always had a liking for Robeson and HSB. It would nice to find a couple Schrades as well.
Maybe the elusive 735109 non-liner lock in smooth ivory bone will be found.

I will be selling a few things in the near future, moving away from having a bunch of production slippies I never carry.

Will focus on just a couple production traditionals to keep.

Will keep a variety of Alox SAKs because I love them, they're cheap, and they're just so useful.

My big addition for 2015 will be a custom order from Ken Erickson based on the Case 06244 that I have from my grandfather. A great 2-blade, single spring pattern this will be my first custom ordered multiblade knife. It will likely be my only major knife acquisition for the year...and I'm super excited for it! Give me that and a couple Alox SAKs and I think I'm a happy guy.

Oh the possibilities :D Will be selling off a lot of my lower end production folders that I no longer carry. Think I will be pursuing a splitback whittler, a nice barlow, and my GF says she will be getting me a sebenza for our anniversary :o The rest is up in the air as my taste come and go like the wind.

My biggest change for 2015 will be a drop in family income of around 75%. Combined with several ferocious hospital bills, this will have me buying way fewer knives this year. Hopefully I can save up in case one of the few GEC Cuban stockmen I lack for my collection comes available. It does seem like a terrific time for traditional knives, overall.

Well Jeff, I hope things will change for you and your finances increase so you can continue to enjoy the hobby.

Jeff, I hate to hear of the misfortunes and hope and pray things improve for you and yours.

I've been seriously thinking about selling the majority of my Case collection. I probably have close to 30 knives and only about 3 have ever seen any use. I'd like to thin the herd only keeping a few sentimental ones and possibly try to find a GEC Equal end Moose in stag from 2008 and maybe a TC Yellow Days Work barlow trapper.

I hope to see 2015 as the year that I learn to enjoy what I have, acquire less, and enjoy looking more than acquiring. I too, am leaning towards thinning the heard a tad this coming year, We'll see how that plays out:rolleyes::)

A Buck 501 with water buffalo covers and a S30v blade from their custom shop is at the top of my 2015 knife list.

This time last year, I was aiming at buying less knives. I failed spectacularly! :o

one of these to start with...but.... shock announcement...SWMBO actually stated verbally that it might be a good idea if I went to America to one of those knife show thingys!!!!!!!!
I adopted a very cool composed posture and said "nyeah maybe" whilst simultaneously going internally berserk.
I was also thinking "sweetie, you ain't got the cash to get rid o me that easy".

Oh yes! That sounds like a great plan for myself too although I don't know if I'll be able to stick to it. :o I only just got into trads in 2014 so I was grabbing everything and anything that took my fancy. I've since settled down a fair bit although I still have a Northfield Marlow on pre-order and I don't think I'll be able to resist any long pull Charlows that come into production especially if it's a spearpoint. Other than that....I haven't set my sights on anything else.

Have been looking at the A. G. Russell Medium Barlow Lockback and it is defiantly on my list as the next purchase. I am defiantly starting to like the single blade traditional knives’ and keep finding ones to add to my list and what a joy that is!
