My S30V digicam G10 spyderco military has been with me for 8 years now. It's a real user, rarely going without stains and dirt from gardening and pruning work. Edge, lock and handle are still like-new. I reckon $130 amortized over 8 years is cheap.
Ya know, that’s a really good point. “Bang for the buck” evaluations should actually include some “usable life” consideration along with the price. I guess it’s still a tough call though because even relatively cheap knives (within limits) are going to serve the majority of folks for a long time unless abused. Anyway, the Military in s30v is hard to beat for a lifetime of use along with some incidental abuse. A keeper for sure. 😎

Good point. I never thought about it that way.

Hard for me to decide between the Buck 110, the Buck Marksman, and the Cold Steel SRK.

They're all a lot of knife for the money.

The 119 as well, but for my money I'll take the SRK if I'm looking for a fixed blade in that price and size range.

Best bang for the buck is the blade you carry the most. Think of it as cost per day. Then you can justify any price knife. :)

I have 2 long term carry.

spyderco drgaonfly 2 - over 3 years
Tactical pterodactyl mini tanto - over 5 years

For me...bang for the buck definitely includes:
Buck 110, Kershaw Leek, and Spyderco Tenacious.
All come with a bang without costing a lot of bucks.

A QSP Penguin is my bang for buck winner. I bought a D2 liner lock, it might have been under $30 at the time and it’s a great user. It has better action then many of my more expensive knives.
Yea, I just got one….nice knife

I agree. Good endurance in a folder is an important characteristic of a quality knife.

I have to agree that in bang for the buck folders the 110/112 (traditional and Lites), CS Voyagers, RATs 1 & 2 are hard to beat for the price; great utility and modest cost.

Fixed get a little more complicated depending on the mission profile for the knife. Sure the buck line up has good offerings as does Mora but the CS SRK and Becker "Tweeners" provide great utility at reasonable price points ... for what you get.
