What is your "Bang For Buck" Knife?

I like the CRKT M16 EDC ($30 for the zytel handle version). The Carson flipper works great- just as fast as a microtech.

definately my fullsize grip, a steal at 50 bucks. also my 1660CKTST leek which only cost me a mere 35!

My Kershaw Vapor is stamped Japan on the blade. Has that changed since I bought mine 8-9 years ago?

I guess it has. I bought a Vapor for my dad about 4-5 years ago and it was made in china. Plus all the ones we had at the knife store I worked for from 2004-jan. 2008 were always china made.

Kershaw Leek, Kershaw Needs Work, and alox Victorinox Recruit.

What's the name of the knife under the Leek?

Spyderco Delica comes to mind first but I saw the CV Sodbuster Jr. mentioned and that would easily come in second.

My best bang for the buck spent choices?

Gents = Buck 501

All around user = BenchMade 551 Griptilian

Harder use beat em up tactical = 5.11 Tarani Investigator

I'm sorry to hear that. I guess that illustrates one of the reasons nobody has any brand loyalty anymore: the company can change directions in the blink of an eye.

Well, the Vapor is still a good value, but I think I'll have to go with the Catbyrd because I like the blade hole better than a thumb stud.

Don't be sorry... the QC is just fine, and the china version I believe has the updated two thumb studs... even budget spydercos and benchmades are made in China...

Frost's Mora of Sweden
Buck 110
Buck 889SBMF
Spyderco Endura
ColdSteel RoachBelly
Tramontina Machetes
Victorinox Swiss Army knives
Ka-Bar Becker series

12" Sabatier carbon steel butcher's - cost me Au$10 ~27 years ago - even used it as a machete for a time - now my favourite bread knife as well as for slicing meat.

Bang for the buck? The Vapor, Spyderco Native, and SAKs. For Machetes it would be the Trams hands down.
