What is your collection worth?

Well... I think I'm done... I just added up the value of my collection and realized it's about $5000 retail, $4000 actual value, and maybe $3000 if I needed to sell it quick. I guess I didn't realize how crazy I went over the last two years and I'm thinking it's getting out of hand. I suppose everyone has their limit (and I'm not even buying really expensive knives!), but I'm curious where other people feel the limit is for them? How far is too far with this hobby!

Nothing but sentimental value. I plan on passing it all to friends and family when the time comes.

Not very much... there's no real theme going.
Personally I've never had knives with the intention or thought of resale.

They are only worth what someone is willing to pay.
If I were to guess around 1000 to 1500.

I might own 150 knives. Wild guess is that I've spent $12,000 on them over the past 30 years, and could prolly sell them for $4,000. #getrichquick. But Mrs. Powernoodle and I have lived with no debt for 25 years, I've never had a car payment in my life, we have 370,000 miles on our two cars, our kids went to college for fee, we can retirement with dignity, and I've never owned a bass boat or a set of golf clubs. If losing money on a hobby I enjoy is my worst financial decision, I'm doing pretty good.

It’s worth more than what is necessary, but it makes me happy.

My accumulation is worth what somebody would pay, which is exactly toss all. I already sold most of my knives and what I have left are the less desirable ones. I want to keep the sentimental pieces and users and sell or give away the rest.

The collection is only worth what you have been able to realize upon liquidation. Until then it has no value; and what ever you have spent, would have been spent on some other form of entertainment and has no bearing on the present value.

I have never really paid much attention to value or worth. I don't know what I have spent and I don't really care to be honest about it. I do have a couple that I am pondering selling but generally I don't sell my knives.

Somewhere between $700-1200 (with the higher number more likely) is what I *spent* for my various SAKs, Benchmades, Bucks, and two Fallkniven F1's). What they're worth is anyone's guess. Probably less than I paid but these are knives that were bought over the past 40-45 years. No collector knives, just a variety of users and NiB replacements for the ones I like the most (pretty much SAKs).

I don't want to know and I certainly don't want anyone else to know :D

These.

The only person I expect to need to inform of how much I spend is my wife.
